"Barry is only 16 years old and is a true gem/prodigy on the guitar."
- Mandi Layne
It all started when his father took Barry for the first time to see a live band play when he was eight. "I remember being so focused on the lead guitar player (John Lorrison, a family friend) the whole night," Barry recalls, "It made the hair on my neck stand up when I heard Johnny play, I told my dad that night that I wanted to play the guitar." That Christmas his father bought him a little Abilene acoustic to practice on. He began taking lessons from local musicians for a couple years then began his band experience, sitting-in with many local bands picking up tips & tricks of the trade along the way. Ever since Barry has been in many bands discovering all types of music no matter which it is. Some of the Artists he has been featured with are the Brian Schram Band (SHRAM!), Motor City Josh and The Big Three, Larry McCray, Rebel Heart, Charles Wilson, The Craig John Band, Copper Ridge, Canned Heat, Jones'n, Ace High, Accel/Accelerate, The Remshotz, and many more.
Mandi Layne & the Lost Highway Bio:
Mandi Layne and The Lost Highway has performed in front of more than 300,000 people in less than two years.
We are a young, energetic rockin' country band. Each musician in our band has been singing, songwriting and playing instruments for many years and has been involved in all genres of music. Due to our diversity, we bring an edge to our sound that no other Mid-Michigan band has yet delivered. A year and a half ago we hired Barry Forster as a lead guitarist. Barry is only 16 years old and is a true gem/prodigy on the guitar.
Mandi Layne and The Lost Highway formed in April 2007 when we were selected to compete in 98.1 FM WKCQ’s Rising Star Competition. For 2 years in a row we won the competition which enabled us to open for several National Headliners. To date, we have opened for the following Nashville Headliners: Blake Shelton, Darryl Worley, Trent Tomlinson, Billy Currington, Sarah Buxton, Carolina Rain, Mark Wills, Whiskey Falls, Adam D. Tucker, Tracy Lawrence, Jennifer Hanson, Joe Nichols, The Lost Trailers, Jypsi, Steve Holy, Emerson Drive, and Blue County. We will be opening for several more National acts throughout the summer of 2009.
For the past 6 months we have dedicated our time to songwriting. We just recently finished recording our first album ("Drunk In Love"), which is to be released in the summer of 2009. Two tracks on the album were recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, the same studio where Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, and many, many more have recorded some of the most unforgettable songs in history.
