About Me

Tranny is a rock band; but nowhere near plain and simple, following the release of its second CD, “…in Winter.”
Tranny’s sophomore effort delivers a cohesive tale that relates an enigmatic relationship and its seasonal ups and downs. Like on Tranny’s initial release, the band retains a multi-genre sound, never shying from full-on distortion and reveling in haunting acoustic work.
The initial single, “Feel it”, is currently in rotation in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas. Additionally, “The Plan”, “Bullseye!”, and “The Seams” have made their way onto airways and podcasts worldwide. “…in Winter” can be found online at CD Baby and numerous MP3 sites, including iTunes.
Songs on the album came to life in late 2006 when Tulsa, OK woke to a wintery grip on its city streets. Sleet tapping his bedroom window, singer JonMalone began hearing the idea and reached for a guitar. What followed was a two-day catharsis of writing and arranging the seven songs to fit the concept behind “…in Winter.”
“I had a thought that winter isn’t all cold and snow.” said Malone. “In fact, my initial vision included a high school basketball game. You know, February… greasy popcorn… crowd writhing and cheering for their team as they claw their way through conference clashes.”
The band continues to grow its regional footprint, through both conventional and non-conventional means, and was nominated for a 2007 Tulsa World Spot Music Award in the category of Best Rock Act. Also In 2007, Tranny’s song “Same” (Watchalay!, 2006) was added to 272 Records’ annual compilation, “Riot on Sunset, Vol. 4.”
2008 has been primarily focused on an immediate follow up to the 2007 release with 18 songs currently in contention for release in 2009.
