Made up of two members (Is-K) and (surface) dirty coalition is definitely on the rise as the new face of hip-hop in the South. Long time friends, that consider each other brothers, IS-K and Surface were both born in South Carolina. IS was born in Prosperity and Surface was born in Newberry. Though they were confined to small towns, the two possessed big city dreams. After losing his father as a young teenager, surf’s mother moved the family to the small town of York, South Carolina. While there Surf began to pursue his hidden talent of rap music becoming a member of the local but popular group 3rd platoon. Although he lived about 2 hours away, he kept in touch with IS. IS had begun to rap as well after being influenced to do so by Surf. But at the time, it was just a hobby to IS, instead of what it is now, a way of life. Surf eventually left the 3rd platoon and formed the group Southern Lecture, with two friends he made once he moved to York. IS had also formed a group with a childhood friend called Southbound. After creative differences, broken promises and shitty management, the groups dismembered. Surf was a solo artist as well as IS. IS was enduring personal trials of his own, his father was killed in 98 and then his mother died a year and a half later, leaving the young rapper to be basically on his own. After IS and Surf both experienced run-ins with the law, being jailed, and earning records as felons, they realized that they were basically in a no win situation, with jobs hard to come by and a record that would prevent them from acquiring decent employment, the two began to lean heavily on their talent. The two formed the group DIRTY COALITION which stands for Distribute It Right To Ya coalition, and began making major moves. After teaming up with a label owner that was fake (ONKE Entertainment) the two then wondered who was really worth trusting. They then found Grant, “G4†from Charlotte, NC who took the group under his wing and really started teaching them the art of rhyming and songwriting as well as how to let the beat talk to you and you respond accordingly. It seemed as if things were on the way up for the duo, but due to the studio closing down and lack of funds, the group and G4 parted ways. Then along came what is now a distant family member, CE Mitchell, the owner of BorgataINC who quickly signed the group to a deal and had them release a mixtape titled, SAME SHIT DIFFERENT TOILET PAPER which became an instant success. The group moved over 21,000 units of this cd to date via cd baby, manifest, tower records, as well as moving albums out of the trunk. They even had a song off of the mixtape played on Power 98 in Charlotte during the mix hour. As a result of outside influence and lack of communication the group parted ways from the label, but continued to stay in contact with CE since the part didn’t leave any remnants of hard feelings. IS signed a deal with TRT entertainment and also used funds to officially start Dirty Co records which is currently in the process of opening a quality studio. IS is completing his solo project and also completing the Dirty Co mixtape that will proceed a group release that has yet to be titled
