About Me
Myspace Backgrounds My name is Carolyn Engle. I was born in the small town of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, about twenty miles from Morgantown. I was the fourth child of eight. I started my schooling in a one room school, with one teacher teaching all six grades. We lived so far back in the sticks, we had all dirt roads. We walked a mile to school and back home. I rather enjoyed the walk though. Sometimes our teacher would pick us up along the way, and, there were times he would take us home.We never had alot, but, we always had a garden and my mom canned plenty every year. My mom was a great cook and we never went hungry. I thank God for the family He allowed me to be born into. I have five brothers and two sisters and they are all still living. I feel very blessed. My grandparents lived just across the hill from us. They owned a farm so, they raised cows, pigs, chickens & lambs. Mom said we ate alot of lamb. When grandpap would butcher, my dad would always go and help him so, he always brought some kind of meat home for us. Mom told me that she prayed,
'God, never let my babies go hungry' and He always provided
for us. And, it's amazing that God is still honoring mom's prayers today. The winters in the mountains got to be to much for mom. I remember the snow falling in feet, not inches, back in the
fifties. We would be snowed in for days. The snow was so heavy at times that it would pack against the door and we couldn't even open it. Dad would have to go down, through the trap door in the floor, to the basement and go out that door to clear the snow from the front door so we could get out. When I was six we moved to Pa. Mom & dad rented a house on Bunker Hill and I went to Gans school. We lived there for one year and then they found a house for sale in Smithfield, Pa. and they bought it. We went to Paul school,
which was a school with two rooms. One of them was from grades one to three and the other was from four to six. One teacher for each room. She would teach one grade while the other two studied. From there we went to Fairchance Georges. I was a tomboy and didn't like school much, so, I skipped alot. I quit school right after my seventeenth birthday in 1967. My sister Marlene and I went to classes at the college in Morgantown, WV. in April, 1986 and got our GED.I was married at 18 and had my Julie at 19. I have three daughters, Julie Gail, Angaline Christa & Misty Marie. I have two granddaughter, Larissa & Breanna, and three grandsons, Justin and Anthony & Tye Allen. I have one great-grandson, Hunter Allen. My latest was born Jan. 5, 2008. That one would be Tye Allen. They are all so precious to me. I guess it is true that blood runs deep.I work in a warehouse with Julie and Larissa so I see them
all the time. In the summer we gather at Julie's for cook
outs. Everybody brings something to eat and we feast. We swim in her pool and lounge around her yard. We play games and just have a great time. We laugh alot and have fun.
That's what makes life enjoyable, family, together. Sharing
and caring God's love with peace and joy in our hearts for one and other. Giving of ourselves, our time to someone else. My children and family are my existance. lol.
