Misaki Kawachi was born in Shizuoka, Japan and moved to Hawaii at the age of 5 months. Her passion for the performing arts began a very young age of 3, when she happened to pass by the Center Stage at Ala Moana Shopping Center during the Holiday Season. The dancing Christmas trees were what inspired her to become a performer. Misaki hoped to one day perform in this Christmas Extravaganza and began to pursue her career at 5 years old, dancing with Drill Team Hawaii. On the side, she also began to study musical theater and singing at Diamond Head Theatre. At age 9, she became a Diamond Head Shooting Star member and was given the opportunity to perform in many performances. Her first musical performance was “Grease†in 2000 at the Mamiya Theatre. Since then, she has performed in numerous musical productions including: Carousel, Chess, and The Wizard Of Oz at Diamond Head Theatre, Santa Claus Lives in Hawaii, Flower Drum Song, and Oklahoma at Army Community Theatre, Lisa Matsumoto’s On Dragonfly Wings at Leward Community College, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Hawaii Theatre. In 2002, Misaki’s dream came true when she was selected to perform in the Christmas Extravaganza at Ala Moana. Misaki has also been seen in the "Christmas Gift of Aloha" and "Santa's Aloha Christmas Parade" at Ala Moana Center during the 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008 holiday seasons. Her most recent major theatre production was “Miss Saigon†at Paliku Theatre during the fall season of 2008. She has also been a part of New York's Broadway Artist's Alliance since winter of 2008.
Misaki’s recording career began in 2005 when her current vocal coach and worship leader at her church, Roslyn Catracchia gave her the chance of recording her own album titled “Misakiâ€. Her album was released in 2006 and received the Hawaii Music Award for “Best Gospel Album†as well as a Hoku Nomination for “Gospel Album of the Yearâ€. She currently attends First Presbyterian Church in Kaneohe and hopes to continue to share her music with other churches on the island and around the world.
