What do I have to give? And where’s that dream husband God promised to give me? Well, the questions were the beginning of the journey, the journey led to writing and keeping journals, and the journals led to songs. Then finally the songs were given voice – to my surprise, my voice.” The artist says that her writing style is influenced by no one in particular, but admits that the neo soul/alternative generation has been an inspiration behind her unique, no boundaries vocal style, including greats like India.Arie, Macy Gray, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. But there is no denying that her vocal style is also reminiscent of the pop era legends, including Tina Turner and Grace Jones.
