As most people use this space to brag about what they've accomplished & the material things they have, I will do no such thing. In my lifetime I've done a lot, however I haven't done much of anything. It all depends on how you look at it. If you're a friend of mine & have kept up with me in any way, you know I've experienced different phases, ways of life, locations, people, points of view and emotions. My name gets thrown around a lot (I've noticed)... in good ways & bad. A couple of years ago, everything started to get to me. I felt claustrophobic and HAD to get the hell out of this place. I randomly drove across the country to Huntington Beach, CA with a girlfriend back in '04 and lived there for a year. I met some really amazing friends and miss them terribly:( While I was there, I was lucky enough to work for Dave Silveria (the drummer of KORN) @ his sushi bar, TUNA TOWN -- by far the best sushi I've ever had. I lived just 2 blocks from the ocean and I loved it. I'm so glad I got out of here to see something different... another way of life. After a while, I just really started to miss home. I came back because I realized that in this life, I only get one family and I should be with them as much as possible. It's better having to travel across the country to see your FRIENDS rather than vice versa to see your FAMILY. The common phrase 'you never know what you've got 'til it's gone' is RIGHT ON. It's kind of weird being back, though. I feel that I've changed so much. Things I USED TO DO and the person I USED TO BE -- I don't know anymore. So sometimes, my surroundings confuse me. I find myself not understanding certain beliefs, actions and prejudices. However, I realize that my experiences have molded my personality & I have to remain 'myself' no matter what. Aside from all that, I grew up around music. My dad was playing guitar in a rock band when I was still in my mother's womb. He's continued through the years, studying the technique of such artists as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and John Petrucci of DREAM THEATRE, to name a few. When my little brother, Eric was old enough, Dad taught him how to play. I took a different path and started singing. When I was a kid I would hum to the sounds that came from just about anything... Dad's guitar, the refrigerator, the vaccuum cleaner, etc. Then, in middle school, joined the choir. I sang in the school choir for 6 years. Later, when I felt more comfortable, I started singing solos - mostly black gospel. After high school, I sang in a couple of bands. I'm currently the accompaning female vocalist for STRAIGHT DRIVE. There's a link to click below to check us out. I was raised, mainly, on rock-n-roll, but lately I've been listening to a lot of electro/electronica. There's something about good beats and low frequencies that move me. I continue to broaden my horizons with music. It's a high I get like no other. I don't think I'll ever stop. I've also been bartending off & on for about 4 years. Sometimes it gets on my nerves... having to deal with drunk people when I'm sober all the time -- but ultimately, it's pretty fulfilling. I get to talk to so many different types of people from all over the world. They confide in me and we become life-long friends. I know lots of people who hate the jobs they went to school to get, therefore, consider myself pretty lucky. Ok, if you just read this whole 'about me' section, I apologize. I don't know whether to be flattered or frightened that you care that much. Either way, if you wanted to know, I guess you found out.
