Intimacy, passion, truth and a faith in God that will never fade away are just a few of the ways to accurately describe Shea. Born and raised in the small town of Cartersville, GA., Shea, even as a young boy had deep passion for creating music for the King! At the age of 9 he got his first guitar and started playing during worship with the worship team at church. At the age of 10 he had crafted his first song. Shea is quoted saying I remember the song talking about driving fast cars and God being in complete control. Honestly I dont remember anything else about the song other than that. But I believe that is the beauty of it in itself. Because we are all still trying to drive our own fast cars with our lives but God is still in complete control. Shea was raised in church and had received knowledge about a living God; however he didnt experience his first true encounter with the matchless grace of God until the summer he graduated from High School. While out partying with some local high school kids celebrating graduation, Jesus radically stepped in and transformed his life. The very next day Shea found himself attending a bible study where he was surrounded by examples of the most encouraging Christians who truly desired to live out there faith here on the earth. These friends and family members encouraged him to study the word and inspired him to look at his own gifts and how to serve God with them. As the presence of Christ penetrated his life and heart, it began to reflect in the music he was writing. After a series of ups and downs, learning how to have the heart of the Father & trust God with everything. Waiting Before the King a 5 song EP was recorded in the Spring of 2006. These songs were crafted out over the course of the past three years. Shea is quoted of saying The past three years have shown two extremes of life for me. One side is that of Great Faith patiently waiting before God and watching Him move. The other is that of a restless child crying out to God for everything he wants. I have truly had to learn that in all things big and small He is still God and Hes got it under control "It is my hope at least," says Shea, "That people can take my song and make them their own. I think for a songwriter to find any worth in his craft, he first has to give it away. People are honest, they'll let you know if they can relate to you or not.
