*****Datura is an alternative rock band based out of Towson, MD. The band was formed in 2006 by Towson University students Evan Kornblum (lead guitar), Brent Beckner (bass), Jesse Kadesch (vocals/rhythm guitar), and Matt Minchello (drums). Kornblum and Minchello grew up in Freehold, New Jersey where they played in local bands together for five years before attending college. At Towson, Kornblum and Minchello met fellow music major Beckner, who plays classical upright bass for the University and has had extensive experience playing in rock-oriented bands. Seeking to front a band, Kadesch contacted Kornblum and joined the lineup. They quickly wrote and recorded a four song demo. The band began playing at local Baltimore clubs such as the 8X10 Club, Fletcher’s, and the Recher Theater with great success. The band has since written more material and now has approximately an hour worth of music. Minchello’s jazz drumming style combined with Kornblum and Beckner’s classical training are perfectly complimented by Kadesch’s distinctive vocals.
