Influences: THE CREETONS – “Eat Jerk Sleep†demo (myspace.com/thecreetons) Although the production’s a little raw, this demo does a nice job of showcasing the various sides of this teenaged Jersey shore trio. Singer Gabe’s heavily distorted guitar suggests he’s listened to a lot of Clash, although the band displays a variety a influences on this disc. The band’s primary flavor is pop/punk, but they throw in a thrashy hardcore tune and even a reggae song. The standout track here is “Punk Rock Girl†(not the Dead Milkmen hit,) although the singalong harmony chorus on “Now What’s Right†will grab your attention too. I look forward to hearing a lot more from this band in the future. Today, the PSAT’s; tomorrow, the world. – Jim Testa
Sounds Like: And this weekend I was back in Asbury Park - this time at one of the Saint's weekend all-ages shows, promoted by Jerseyshows.com - watching more teenagers. The Creetons really impressed me, they're a pop/punk trio with some great songs, excellent musicianship, and first-rate stage presence.--------------JimTesta (Jerseybeat)
