Broken Chains

In 2003 Johnny embarked on a studio only project named XeroSpace, that would be full of digital sampling, synths and sharp guitars riffs. Josh Messner soon joined in on the project as lead guitar. As the duo posted samples online and the word spread they were asked about live performances. The idea of live performances grew and the duo enlisted Andrew Gray on lead guitar and Josh went to bass guitar. That year XS took stage for the first time as a digital goth rock band performing the single "Dead Roses" that year they later took the stage again on New Years Eve performing 6 other songs. Early 2004 the band performed a few more times locally and eventually moving on to play venues in Denver CO. That summer they spent time working on new material keeping the digital goth sound and image. That year also the single "Mr Hollywood" hit college radio in New York aswell as on internet radio stations. Late 2004 Andrew departed the band due to creative differences. The band saw many lineup changes between 2004-2006 with a few lead guitarists, keyboardists and even a live drummer, In mid 2006 Johnny and Josh came across 3 other individuals that seemed to click very well with the ideas, Teho Albo, Brady Farrell and Justin Jerman. The new lineup performed locally and out of state with all new songs the Fall of 2006, with the songs and lineup changing so did the heavy goth digital image, the band lost the extreme theater makeup and evolved with the sound, releasing Brady from the lineup as there was no need for a full time keyboardist, from starting as a digital goth rock band to the industrial metal band that is today,, With the evolution of sound the band found it fitting to rename and thus became "Broken Chains". Broken Chains/XeroSpace has become known on the Colorado underground scene as well as having the internet community taking notice. Late 2007 saw the addition of Will Gerlach on 2nd guitar which brought a new twist on the old material as well as bring in a whole new thing for the new material. The band is looking forward to the summer of 2008 with a strong lineup and crew ready to have a good summer of concerts linedup and a EP due for release.
