No need for a cocky headline...

About Me

HOWDY! - This greeting and one word really sums me up all together. It's a friendly, southern, welcome to everyone. If you know me at all, you've heard it a million times.
I know I am a leader, thinker, listener, do-er, and a singer. I am an avid learner, speaker, performer, and teacher. You can count on this helper, creator, sharer, partner, and reader. I enjoy all of the writer, observer, reactor, and dancer in me. Sometimes I hate to say that I fall into the procrastinator or the sleeper. But I never forget the breather, messenger, chooser, the decision-maker, and many other -ers in me!
I'm a social, high-energy, hopeless-romantic, kind of guy who lives down in South Texas. I currently work in retail both as a Men's Tailored Clothing Specialist @ Dillard's Department Store in Laredo, TX for the last year, and as a Retail Merchandising Product Specialist for Winston Retail Solutions out of San Fransisco, CA. I'm still open to all the career possibilities right now. I've been traveling all throughout Texas the last couple of months for work and for recreation.
I'm also a brother now alumni of ΛΧΑ Lambda Chi Alpha International Fraternity GO TO: www.myspace.com/tamiuchoppers
Lastly, I'm also pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music & Voice Studies @ TAMIU. Some time off from school is doing me some good this year. It's been rough, but the last leg of this academic race is just ahead. I'm still considering & reconsidering graduate degree programs in student affairs or public administration after I complete this BA. If not, I'll most likely continue my voice performance and studies.
I love a good night out on the town as much as the next guy does. I hate being bored at home or wasting my time. Above anything else, I enjoy traveling and cooking. I don't see myself ever being too comfortable anywhere. I've traveled from Washington State, to Missouri, all the way to D.C., and Baltimore. I hope to spend some time in Europe and Australia some time. love jumping in a car and just taking off as long as I can see a road in front of me!..
I'm a little bit of an O.C.D. kid still, and I've got a thing for running the show, whatever it may be.
....

My Interests

Some of my interests include traveling, socializing with people, cooking, long-distance driving, opera, many of the Fine & Performing Arts, event planning, dancing, some theology and mythology studies, and getting involved in select social and community causes.

I'd like to meet:

Some totally cool and out-going people that are serious about what they want, and know how to get what they want in life... but they don't have to be there yet, getting there is all the fun! I'm not particular about my friends, social-interaction is the life-blood of our being. Keep a conversation going and let's get this Donkey-Pony Show on the road!!.

Music:

I love all forms and genres of music. It's the most intimate form of performance and and sometimes visual art achievable. A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE!!! Music touches us everywhere in our lives from the background music we (don't) hear while shopping, jamming out in the car, or in every movie since the invention of the moving picture!
What would be on the soundtrack to your life?
I listen to hip-hop, opera, jazz, blues, reggeaton, house, drum & bass, disco, neo-soul, industrial rock, and the oldies. I love music from the 50s, the 70s, and the 80s.
I'm also a classically trained musician. I'm an opera singer in the making. I play tuba, piano, a little upright bass, and voice. I'll be posting a couple of pieces from my recent recital up here on MySpace by the end of January. Don't forget to keep posted on my Senior Recital, date is to be announced.

I'm a old classic horror movie buff. Hitchcock, Stephen King adaptations, Wes Craven, Bela Lagosi, Vincent Price...
I don't care of it's black and white or a C.G.I. monster eats the whole cast, if it makes you squeamish, I've probably seen it!!!
Everything from Killer Clowns from Outer Space to Night of the Living Dead!

Television:

I'm a news junkie to say the very least. How do we expect to effect the world if we don't know what's going on in it? I will catch CNN Headline News or NBC News all night. I can't seem to tear myself away from Top Chef, Law & Order SVU, CSI, and of course NipTuck...

Books:

Currently Reading: "The Tristan Chord"
Always by my side: the PAEDAGOGUS 15th ed.

Heroes:

I honestly don't have many people I could really consider or call hero(es). If I would consider anyone at all any sort of hero, it would be my mother back home in Eagle Pass. (I know how cheesy is sounds) I can't look up to her enough as the single person who gave the most direction and profound advise to date... MOM
