About Me
Biography 2008
Born in 1973, a singer-songwriter since the age of 12, Edwin has consistently grown in his craft through both musical education and hands-on experience. Being a truly all-inclusive independent artist, merging his song-writing, performing and producing talents, he does enjoy collaborating with other musicians, producers and engineers, learning all he can to ensure his own ability to write music as a genuine reflection of his own experiences.
He wishes to continue the creative process he knows and loves, with the ability and eagerness to reach and affect an extensive amount of people. Therefore he’s always writing and recording new material.
His debutalbum ‘Passion’ was recorded at the famous Wisseloord Studios, with the help of some of Holland’s finest musicians, all playing with artists such as Candy Dulfer, Paul Weller and Dutch stars Anouk (EMI) and Trijntje Oosterhuis (EMI/Blue Note). International top-acts U2, Elton John, Lionel Richie and Bon Jovi have previously recorded material at the same location.
The adult and stylish sound reflects the combined influences of fellow singer-songwriters George Michael, Mick Hucknall, Lucie Silvas and Norah Jones. Listeners will enjoy the warmth of the productions, the purity of his voice and the richness of the harmonies. His lyrics are those that turn real-life and personal situations into universal experiences, to which both dedicated fans and new listeners can relate.
In September 2006 ‘Forever love’, the first single to be taken from the album, reached the number 23 position in the Dutch Mega Top 100. Its follow-up, ‘Fool for love’, made it to number 50 in November 2006. The 3rd and final single ‘Passion’ was released January 2007 and reached to number 70. Reactions to the album have all been very positive, resulting in a lot of radio/tv promo-gigs. From October 2006 until April 2007 Edwin has been touring in Holland to promote the album.
After a short break Edwin and his band moved to the UK for a period of 2 months during the summer of 2007, to write and demo 12 brand new tracks for the new album 'Living free', which is expected for release sometime later this year. The tracks will reveal a new, direct and more soulful sound, already compared to John Mayer, James Morrison and Simply Red in its early years.
'Living free', the first single to be taken from the forthcoming album, has just been released. All revenues of the song will go to Amnesty International to support their fight for human right across the world!
