J-Roc version 2.0

Long story short..I came to Arizona in 96' from Memphis, Tennessee. I'd been rhyming for a long time before, and just bullshittin' wit' beatboxin' at school and starting lunchroom cyphas and shit... But I started professionally pursuing music shortly after I got to AZ.... I'm one of the first emcees in Tucson to open shows for the likes of artists like Emenem, Black Eyed Peas, Ja-Rule, Redman, Slick Rick, Mystikal, DJ Quik, Bone Thugs in Harmony, Mya, Lil' Mo, Lil' Troy,D.J. Cool, Too Short, Philly's Most Wanted and more to come.. Just to name a few... I've always been known for stealin' a show you could say....In 1997, I started a group called "Tha O" wit my left arm David Chatmon(Free Young Riplee!!!). After a 4 year hustle, and many changes in musical direction and group members, we( J-Roc & DJ Rip a.k.a.Young Riplee) formed RipRoc and dropped a debut album that is still regarded as way ahead of it's time. This album would go on to sell some 10,000+ copies in scattered cities between Arizona and Atlanta. But legal issues and poor business decisions would bring this groups reign to a halt. In 2004, Riplee moved to Texas and opened Fie Boi Studios, and I remained in Arizona to take care of personal obligations. Now it's 2008. And I'm a seasoned veteran. I'm 28 years of age now. And as you may notice as you listen,I do a lot of freestyles. But I make real songs too.. I'm into showin' my versatility. I like to think even though my roots are in the south that I don't have a particular style category. I dabble in a lot of different things. I have the mindframe to not restrict myself. I do WHATEVER I feel on my tracks. Not to impress any particular crowd(i.e. "The hood", or "The pop crowd") I rhyme about a lot of different subject matters. Yes, I come from M-Town Tennakey, but I also know life outside of the hood. No I don't think I'm the hardest nigga on the planet. As a matter of fact, I only get buck when I'm overly provoked. Other than that, I'm about makin' the MUSIC. A lot of people call me arrogant. But I'm very much in tune to what's happenin' around me in this business. I do have a chip on my shoulder because I was rippin' mics in the Tuc before A LOT OF DEEZ CATZ DECIDED TO BREATHE INTO A MIC!!!! I want to be a mainstream success, as well as an undergroud legend, which is why I do my music the way I do. A lot of people know who I am already.. But not nearly enough to make me satisfied..
