Angeline

Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

About Me

Pragmatic. Paradoxical. Passionate.I confuse myself, therefore I shall confuse you. Confused yet? :-)My perceptions, about myself and the world and its inhabitants, continue to change. I am struggling to remain open and receptive and not allow myself to grow cynical and bitter. I am struggling to believe in love and the goodness of humanity in general. I am struggling to believe in myself.I suppose if I weren't struggling then I wouldn't be alive, so perhaps I should be grateful for the struggles.

My Interests

Music, music, music! I enjoy reading, fiction and nonfiction. I am also currently working on a piece of fiction that I hope to have published. Natural parenting, homebirth, and ways to improve family life.

I'd like to meet:

Courageous and compassionate people. Artists, writers, musicians, and other people who veer toward the creative. Friends who are willing to extend a hand when you need it and accept a hand when they need it. Deep thinkers, those who question and never accept "truths" on blind faith alone, and those who are willing to think outside the box. Those who are willing to listen to the viewpoints of others and not feel threatened in their own beliefs.

Music:

Almost anything alternative, hard rock, classic rock, some pop (although very little), jazz, classical, and world music. Some bands I enjoy are U2, Coldplay, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, New Order, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Prince, Counting Crows, Tool, Radiohead, A Perfect Circle, NIN, The Decemberists, The New Amsterdams, Over the Rhine, Catherine Feeny, Iron and Wine, Aimee Mann, Snow Patrol, Aqualung, Azam Ali, Lorenna McKennitt, Nickel Creek, Alison Krauss, Neko Case. The list could go on and on...

Movies:

The Matrix, The Game, Fight Club, A Room With A View, Lord of the Rings, When Harry Met Sally, BladeRunner, Harry Potter...., Meet The Parents, My Best Friend's Wedding, Pretty Woman, Office Space, Lost Boys, X-Men, So I Married An Ax Murderer, The Lover, There's Something About Mary.

Television:

The Office, Heroes, Supernatural, Lost, 24, The Shield, Battlestar Galactica, and reruns of Sex In The City.

Books:

Authors I enjoy: Guy Gavriel Kay, David Gemmell, Jacqueline Cary, Tolkien, Juliette Mariller, Raymond E. Feist, Greg Keyes, Tad Williams, George R. R. Martin, Stephen R. Donaldson, Jodi Picoult, Michael Connelly, and Jacqueline Mitchard.

Heroes:

Right now I'm feeling a bit cynical, so my heroes list is somewhat blank.

My Blog

Brrrrgggghhhh!

I am so frickin' cold I feel like I will never be warm again. No matter how many covers or clothes I put on, there seems to be an icy center that just won't thaw (no jokes, please). I would like to st...

Feelin' Fine

Okay, I know it's crazy...but I am feeling the most surprising sense of well-being. Perhaps it is the fact that it is the weekend. Perhaps it is that fact that I got so much done this week. Or maybe i...

Color Me Amused (It Hides The Sadness)

So, today was Elora's first day of school. We dropped her off, put her things in her little cubby, and turned her over to the teacher on the playground. It was hard, much harder than I expected. I kne...

Memory Lane

I drove to Indiana today to meet a friend for ice cream at a local establishment. It was nostalgic for me, because I worked at this ice cream parlor as a teenager. In fact, just the drive there and se...

The Great Mind Fuck

Inertia

I've been so tired for weeks now. I know that it is depression, but I'm not quite sure what to do about it. My depression isn't chemical, I don't think. It is circumstantial. Each morning I wake up an...

Petty Complaints
