Doren Gray, also know as "Doughboy" or "the kid Dou", was born november 15th 1989.He was born to his mother and father in the presbaterian hospital on 157st and Broadway.Soon after birth he began to develope ageing on 207st in vermilia avenue where his grandmother had lived years prior to his birth.1995 he moved to new jersey,(Woodbridge)where he lived for one year until him and his brother burned down the house.(mistake)A week later he was back to living with his parents at his grandmothers house until his parents found a new place to live.A month later Dorens parents found an apartment in yonkers( right off of carol).in 1998 him and his family moved once more to where Doren now calls home,"the bronx". 190th and davidson.Doren was just 8 years old.It was the summer, and he would be starting his school year off as a fourth grader.On Doren's off time,he would go to new jersey(edison) to hang out with his cousin and his boys.Being with his older cousin(jose also known as j-holla also known as hoe also known as just because im smiling doesn't mean im happy, but known now as baby teff, or just Teff).He has learned so much about everything.Doren's older cousin happend to be 4 years older then Doren, and was known in his area.That is when Doren was exposed to rhyming "freestyle".Once Doren began to try the rap thing,he hasn't been able to leave it alone.Doren's older cousin(Kawon aka k-boogi aka "the paradox" is who enforced the"freestyle".and Doren's father(Doren Gray sr.aka dj aka "the general)discovered his childs talent he quickly got on his grind.Doren's father has a big reputation of "holding things down" and has alot of pull(being a fact that he's from queens).He first took Doren to see Ron K, (an old school dj)where he gave Doren a chance to record in his home.Ron K didn't have much aquitment, so he did the best that he could,which consists of a casset player and a microphone.Ron k, was feelin "the kid Dou" and wanted another opinion,so he took doughboy,his father,and Teff to another little recording spot off of Gun Hill.Oscar, also know as "big O" the dj had a little bit more aquitment the Ron did and was willing to work with doughboy.That day Doughboy and Teff had recorded what you call a (some what)demo with 3 songs on it.Once the demo was sone Doren's father went to work.He had many different people listening to his son, and his nephew.All though no one took Doughboy in, he still had a back up plan,which was his mother(Lisa Upson)who did and still does work for T.V.T records.She felt that he needed a little more structure,and felt that he shouldn't try to sign with the label because of the way they got down.Taking his mother's advice,he began to try to re-structure himself.Within a year Doren's father has introduced him to sleepy(ceo of r.a.w entertainment).Sleepy had a studio and taght Doren how to count bars and write hooks.Doren took sleepy's advice,and began to write 8 bar hooks, and 16 bar verses.Since sleepy had lived so far away,(jamaica Queens 134)Doren had to find a way to record his tracks.So he down loaded acid and brought a mike,and began to produce his tracks on his own.The more he did it, the better he got.The older he got the better he did it.Later on down the line Doughboy was offered to do shows, but was to young to perform(said management of club).still going to school doren made rap his main prority, battling other m.c's and defeating them.Doughboy's sophmore year,he has stumbled across his schools chorus teacher,who happends to be Andre, a 22 year old r&b artists who is seeking the same as himself.Andre, operates out of a studio(hollyhood)with it's co-founder vinny idol.Being a fact that Doren's girl happend to be in Andre's chorus class,he happend to take her and his two female cousins who he has formed into a group(Surreal)to the studio.Doren's girl offered for him to come along and he did.While his girl and her group did their thing,Doren's attention was lifted by the beats being played in studio B.In studio B there was Antwan(producer)and Tay(t- classic female artist)Tay was recording and Antwan was on the mix board.Tay had came out the booth to write a couple of extra bars.Antwan let the beat run and told Doren that his girl had told him that he could spit.He said he wanted to hear him,and if he was any good he would give Doren some beats so he could come back and record.So Doren did,and Antwan liked it and gave him some beats,actually suggested he do the second verse on tay's track.Doren went home that day a wrote to the beats he was given.He came back to the studio with Andre and recorded the song called "The one for me".That was a big door opening chance for Doren.He appreciates what Andre, Antwan,Hollyhood and everyone who ever held him down has done for him,and he states that he is going to make it for them and himselffound this music layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com :: MyHotCommentsWorld Visitor Map
