Starcastic Pheromone

About Me

Starcastic Pheromone is an alternative rock band which formed in 2004 in Austin, TX. The music is a blend of several rock, pop, and indie influences, mainly from the 80s and 90s. Through bold strokes, the songs are never shy and always sincere, spanning many different moods. The lyrics deliver “snap-shots” of surroundings, questions, despair, resolution, adoration, and desire. Most of the music is comparable to Crowded House, The Smashing Pumpkins, 10,000 Maniacs, The Police, Remy Zero, and some listeners find it similar to Radiohead. The band’s heavier side draws from bands such as Nirvana and Vast.
The remaining original members: Gabe Shulman (bass), Perry Saunders (vocals/guitar), and Thomas Coronado (drums), all met in high school. Over the years, they played with different guitarists and, for a short time, performed as a three-piece. Finally, they met Blake Novy (guitar/keyboard/synth) in the summer of 2008, completing the current lineup.
The band has frequently performed at the Red Eyed Fly. Other local venues the band has performed at include: Stubb's, Antone’s, Momo's, Beerland, Creekside Lounge, Room 710, Trophy’s, and The Flamingo Cantina.
