THE DJ
Gordon Coutts first began back in 1999, playing at local clubs and radio stations in Northern Ireland. For a number of years he steadily built his profile and reputation, playing all around Northern Ireland and securing a number of residencies, as well as co-promoting a successful club night. The past couple of years have seen a dramatic rise in Gordon’s profile, stemming from an appearance at Northern Ireland’s largest dance music festival, Planet Love. From there he went on to appear at GODSKITCHEN, at their Air super club in Birmingham as part of an all Irish DJ line-up for a St. Patricks weekend special, alongside Fergie, Col Hamilton and Phil Kieran. He was also named as Thompsons ‘HUSTLE DJ OF THE YEAR 2005’ as well as being nominated as ‘BEST UP & COMING TALENT’ twice in the Northern Ireland Dance Music Awards. In 2006 Gordon was also selected as the winner of a nationwide DJ competition to play in Dublin, as well as featuring in the ‘Raw Talent’ section of iDJ magazine and playing guest mixes on radio stations in Australia and Gran Canaria. The summer of 2007 saw Gordon hit the White Isle of Ibiza with a string of gigs, and this success carried on into this year with recent appearances on high-profile radio shows such as Paul Van Dyk’s VONYC Sessions and Riley & Durrant’s ‘Nubreed’ show, and guest mixes for Vandit Sessions and other local radio stations around Northern Ireland. Gordon has also recently begun his own radio show, ‘The Replay Sessions’, which is aired worldwide monthly on Sense.FM, Puresound Radio and VONYC Sessions.
THE PRODUCER
In 2007, Gordon moved into production, with his debut tracks ‘Visual’ and ‘Under My Wheels’ released on the Spanish Selecta Recordings in November 2007. These tracks were massive successes, gathering support from the likes of Eddie Halliwell, Ferry Corsten, Yoji Biomehanika and Lee Haslam, along with Radio 1 plays and fantastic magazine reviews. Follow up releases ‘Zulu’ on Claudia Cazacu’s Couture recordings, and Gordon’s remix of Ben Nicky’s ‘Turn On’ on Infexious recordings achieved similar levels of success, with massive worldwide support from the likes of Sander Van Doorn, Ernesto vs Bastian and Adam White, with ‘Zulu’ also gaining ‘Recommended Track’ status in its iDJ magazine review. In 2008 Gordon signed for Paul Van Dyk’s massive Vandit label. His debut track on the label ‘Bakstabb’ was his biggest track to date, with plays from the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Sander Van Doorn and Krzyzstof Chochlow and support at the Miami Winter Music Conference 08, and follow up tracks such as ‘Powerful’ and ‘Lead Line’ have gained a similar level of success.
