Juan Roman Riquelme

I was born on June 24th, 1978 in San Fernando, Buenos Aires Province, (Argentina) i'm a football player, who currently plays for the Villarreal CF of Spain. Argentine giants Boca Juniors and River Plate noticed me when i was a junior player in Argentinos Juniors. Being a Boca fan, i decided to move to that team, who paid 800.000 US dollars for my contract in 1995. A year later, November 10, 1996, I played my first professional match (Boca Juniors 2 - 0 Unin de Santa Fe) and two weeks later I scored my first goal (Boca Juniors 6 - 0 Huracn). In 2002, after seven successful years with Boca Juniors, I was transferred to FC Barcelona for 9 million Euros. Unable to find my place in the team, i was loaned to Villareal a year later, where i currently play. I'm regarded as a talented player with excellent field vision, and often noted as the main factor in Villareal's explosive 2005 campaign, with 15 goals and 11 assists. At the end of that season, Spanish sports newspaper Marca awarded me the title for Most Artistic Player.
