About Me

Jahman is one of the leading West African percussionists of his generation. He is a master djembe player, an expert in the traditional music of West Africa, and as a teacher and workshop leader he is always in demand. He has worked with many of Africas finest musicians including Les Ballets Africans, Bannah Konoteh, Fatala, Alalake, Alphonse Soumah and Siaka Demba Koyate. Since coming to Britain to take up his post of Artist-in-Residence at the Birmingham Conservatoire, he has led many workshops around the country. Jahman is also an accomplished bandleader and his band Jaantabi has earned widespread acclaim for its unique combination of traditional and modern music which they perform regularly at festivals and other venues throughout the United Kingdom.
NEWS : KAMBEN SILO DRUMMING SCHOOL DATES:
Workshops will be held on Tuesdays for six weeks from 7-9pm at St. Columba United Reformed Church, Chantry Road, Moseley starting on Tuesday 27th January 2009 . The course costs £40 if paid for in advance or £8 per session. To register your interest or to find out more contact us
