About Me

Matt Kendrick: Band leader, Bassist, Composer, Educator.Matt is from Winston-Salem and still lives there with his wife and four children. He teaches Electric bass and Jazz Improvisation as an adjunct professor at Wake Forest University. Recently Matt Kendrick has appeared on Bass with: The Marian McPartland Trio, Archie Shepp, Jaki Byard, Amiri Baraka(aka Leroi Jones), Craig Harris and JoAnne Brackeen who was a guest star with the Matt Kendrick Unit at the Carrboro ArtsCenter. He has won the North Carolina Jazz Composers Fellowship Twice plus many other grants. He has four cd’s on his own Suitcase Music label and one on the Ichiban label which charted in the Gavin top 50 for national airplay. These are my cd's below. Influences: Whatever good is out there. 4/4 time. key of F. 5/4 3/4 and 2/4 too. Ok and 7 too. evolution concepts. The perception that the human race is a continuum. Space exists. Chaos is really not real but a perception. Free Jazz explains a lot of things.
