About Me

Formally a division of the Projekt Atol Institute (zavod Projekt Atol), rx:tx is designed to enable access to production facilities and distribution networks for innovative artists from all over the world, but with a specific focus on the artists of the post-communist countries of Eastern Europe whose lively production of new electronic beats, grooves, clicks, cracks and infosphere noise is as yet little known abroad. rx:tx was established by a group of Slovenian conceptual / sound artists, computer engineers, and architects, who work mainly in the electronic music field and launched in April 2002 at the Gwangju Biennale, Korea with the presentation of our first two editions: Signal Territory: Signal Territory I and Jadviga: Nonim.
rx:tx collaborates with artists and labels from Eastern European regions whose music we like, and whose music activism we appreciate and support, and we emphasise the significance of supporting Eastern European scenes which have a very specific historical provenience. At the same time, however, we are not limiting our activities to this geo-political criteria. Instead, in an effort to overcome the still existing divisions, to expose the relativity of differences, and to cross check the field we are all working in, we will put artists from different cultural backgrounds Scanner and Laurent Pernice for example - in the same context.
Founded in 1994 Projekt Atol Institute (zavod Projekt Atol) is a non-profit art/concept production institution that manages diverse art, science and tactical media projects, including Makrolab and the Signal-Sever! Transignal.performance series.
This is a series of events and live performances by musicians, visual artists, and high frequency and satellite telecommunications experts who jam over satellites and work with and within the radio zones of the electromagnetic spectrum.
