A Dramatic Reading of a Real Breakup Letter from a Real Person
I am currently in a place in my life where I'm rethinking a lot of things. It's as though I've stumbled upon some sort of truth, or clue, and it's thrown everything off kilter. It's base things that I'm thinking about, too. I'm thinking about what it means to be a woman in this fucked up society. Which leads me to think about what it means to be a woman who loves women.
I've been in touch with my Christian upbringing, lately, and it's a bit disturbing for me. You see, the church turned its back on me a long time ago, and I never bothered looking back. But, it's become apparent that even those who aren't Christians, just because they grew up in this overly-Christian society, society's ideas about women have been warped.
But, this isn't important. This isn't about me. Sure, it might be a place that I'm visiting regularly at the moment, but it's not all there is.
I am capable of breathtaking beauty. I am capable of loving with the intensity that most would consider suicidal. I am also capable of merciless destruction. I am an underwater thing who hasn't quite mastered how to get by on land, which means that no one is safe from my darkness.
Do not be afraid. That which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
Anyway, I guess I should go ahead and get the basics out there, because no one cares about the musings listed above. I am currently attending my third college. I move around a lot. The oboe pays for my education. I have no major, nor do I want one until I get my Associate's in "General Liberal Arts Studies." So, stop asking me. Tori Amos has saved my life on more than one occasion. I know who I am, and I'm not afraid of it.
