About Me

Downbeat Studio began in 2006 and we're continuing to grow every chance we get. It all started in Michigan but has moved to Chicago, IL as of spring/summer of 2009. It is owned and operated by Michael Govaere, the drummer of Every Avenue (Fearless Records) and James Beesley (Lumberjack extraordinaire!)
Our services cover all the needs necessary for a great recording: Tracking, editing, mixing and mastering. We have lots of experience with bands and solo artists. We at Downbeat have all toured extensively with our own bands and know what it's like to be a working artist. Honestly, we care about the project you're about to record with us. And we're both easy going and hard working at the same time. Many clients come back more than once and keep in touch with us. We enjoy making friends!

- Our rates are very fair, $25/hr., 10 Hour Blocks
- If you're on a tight budget, ask us about flat project rates!
- We use Pro Tools 8.0
- We'll take on any genre of music!
