This talented singer/songwriter, is a fiercely outspoken artist who brings her soul to her music. "I've been singing as long as I can remember." Raised in Brooklyn and Puerto Rico, this half Puerto Rican, half Spaniard young beauty grew up with the love of music in hopes that one day she would share her music with the world. "I sang in so many shows since I was 3, but I don't really remember those days"! "I never really thought I could make it in this business until high school." She joined gospel choir her freshman year of H.S. and sang for the first time she could remember in front of an audience. At that moment she knew it was where she belonged! " I was only 14, I got so nervous I cried when I got off stage, it was such a power full moment"!"One time I wowed the crowd and they gave me a standing ovation, one man told me I made him cry from how beautiful I sang, it was the most intense feeling in the world"! Singing for various shows, up until she switched schools and met her mentor, friend, guitarist and music teacher Steven Range, the young artist eagerly began her experience performing with his band in clubs, bars and events at the age of 15. “He gave me the drive I needed to make it!†Recording cover songs and various track, so she could gain the know how of the industry. By the age of 16 she started auditioning for major labels and radio open calls, but was turned down because of her image...that alone almost made her give up her dream! "I auditioned plenty and no one really wanted me because I didn't have the look. I was young and kind of a tomboy, everyone wanted the young pop tart looking girls".Despite the initial rejection, her ambition, faith and drive never wavered. Fate has always seemed to surround her with music throughout her youth... meeting people like Steve Range who gave her that push she needed; people like VJ Robert Moran who put her on T.V and gave her a V.J spot, and artist Boo Blades who introduced her to the studio and placed her on two of his released tracks in the south "In love with a thug" and "The Hotness"; collaborating with relatives and friends like Jay Andino from SRC; the serendipity of meeting and befriending other artists and industry people like video vixen and rapper Gloria Velez, Funk Master Flex, and DJ Camillo kept her focused on her desired path. "I have lots of industry connections and my knowledge of the music industry grows more ever day, so I can use my know-how to get where i want on my own". Now writing for major labels and various artists, this ambitious girl is using her musical talent to gain a name in the industry. "I was approached by some friends in major labels and now I'm a ghost writer for so many of my favorite artists, I have never felt so happy"!
In the beginning of 2008 she met with solo artist Monique Banes and long time friend and actress Yobi Figueroa and decided to form a three member girl group. "It was kinda funny, an A&R from the very label that turned me down on my first audition asked me about my music and suggested I start a group because I had a great look, How ironic. He didn't even know I could sing"! "Once I mentioned forming a group to these girls, it all fell into place! We all have knowledge and connections in the industry so we thought we could all help each other, Its rare for three solo artists to be involved in a project like this and it just works"!
Starting with the name JMY (J-My) this artist and her two closest friends instantly gained attention from major producers and then started appearance's and small performances in the span of three months. There first track with J Cardim "Be your girl" was the beginning of there soon to be released album "The secrets out", cleverly named from the fact that they kept there group on the "hush, hush" for the first few months of collaborating. Various records on that album will be produced by major producers Rock Boy, Shamillo Durant of Producers Coalition of America, and Dr Period. "I am so blessed to be living my dream and to have these girls in my life right now and I can't wait till we release our single, I know we are gonna be big"! The road both personally and professionally has been rough for this young artist but, "my only love is for music and the people who support me"! This talented 22 year-old is embarking on a career in music, surrounded by friends, family, and coworkers helping her along the way! "Music is who I am, and soon the world will know it"!
