About Me

....ABOUT SULA....
From the hard hitting streets of Scarborough, Toronto to the relaxed west coast of LA, Sula rises like a Phoenix from the ashes to bring you an established ‘roots reggae dancehall’ vibe. Original and authentic, these hypnotic stylings are diverse to say the least and with a back beat that can only be mastered on the dance floor, these flavored rhythms are certain to have you jumpin’.
Never one to conform, Sula’s music can only be described as enigmatic. Comparing her vocals with the hottest tracks breathing fresh air into what could only be described as today’s manufactured music is impossible. With influences ranging from Marvin Gaye and the king of reggae himself Bob Marley through to modern pop superstars such as Sean Paul and Goldie, Sula’s stylins’ take inspiration from a diverse range of musical genres.
As the most unlikely winner of a scholarship to the Canadian Opera Ensemble at the age of eleven, Sula has certainly traveled the less conventional route to arrive at the music she is now creating. And although the classical genre she experienced felt constricting, the technical aspects of producing and recording music have been essential in her development as an artist.
But the restriction of a free spirit frustrated in a world of musical convention only drove Sula to Toronto’s underground reggae scene and the lure of the baselines pumping from the dancehall was too seductive for her to ignore. As she explains herself,“In the dancehall is where I feel most at home, listening to dancehall reggae takes me to another world.”
A stint in New York performing and recording with some of the cities most prominent DJs then led Sula to the next evolutionary stage in her music development, stomping the cosmopolitan streets of London! Here the infectious drum n’ bass and jungle beats of an exploding new music scene continued to diversify and intensify her musical skills.
“The cultural and musical diversity, together with the genuine love for music in London was something that I really connected with.”After hitting the highs of performing for Ministry of Sound on New Years Eve with Goldie, Sula was ready to concentrate on writing and co-producing more of her own material. This meant heading to the music mecca of Los Angeles where she could experiment and hone this original sound she has now captured and continues to develop today.
So how do you describe Sula’s music? You don’t, you just listen… Sula is in a genre all on her own.
“I have something to say, I talk from my heart and like my music, I’m bold and direct.” Sula's Credits...

In addition to working on her current album, Sula has recorded with the likes of YO-YO, Lil Zane, and Chop Black.
