Born in the worn down lazy town of Texas City Texas, I was raised on southern folk music & religion. Everyone in my family sang or played an instrument, anything outside of an old school christian lifestyle was strickly forbidden including popular music.
This controlling lifestyle was a miserable prison from which I had to escape. At the age of 15 years old, I took a stand and broke away from the chains that held me down, with only sixty dollars and a fake I.D. that read "Loretta Jean", I drove my dads mercury to New Orleans, there I hung out at the House of Blues & One Eyed Jacks', where I immersed myself in the sweet sounds of Jazz, Blues & southern rock.
It's funny how one moment in time can change you forever, that moment for me was a crossroads. When I finally returned to Texas, I left my old lifestyle behind...
Under the influence of artist like Howlin' Wolf, Ko Ko Taylor and Billie Holiday, I joined severval Jazz combo's in Texas, and played out often at many blues jams as I could get too, now at this time I statred free styling developing my song writing talent & musicial indentity.
One night during a performance I found myself once again at the crossroads, I realized I was caught like a skipping record, I was playing the same songs at the same haunts, with no new opportunities, I had to get out of this small town, while I still could, I figured if I was a songwriter I was gonna be, i'd better go all the way to a place where there was no restrictions or boundaries, a place with an unlimted pool of idea's where I would be able to cultivate my sound an skills as a singer/songwriter, so I made the move... to NYC.
I now reside in Brooklyn, NY with my guitar 'Roselina', for me right now there's no other path, " It's all, or nothin", cause at the end of day all you have is yourself & you dreams, if you dont fight for them , who will...
I've played shows the Bitter End and CBGB's in the Village, look for me at open mic nights and singer/songwriter showcase in the Tri-State area.
