About Me

I have been singing ever since I can remember. As a tiny tot of 3 singing "Anybody Seen My Kitty", to my big sister's friends, who would place me on their shoulders and fill me up with ice cream as a reward making me sick, to the annoyance of my mom, who had the messy job of hurriedly changing, cleaning, bathing, soon as I got home, after each performance! Mom quickly brought my early entry into show business to an end, by not sending me to baby school anymore with Vilma! Anyway, it was way too early for nursery school in those days, and mom had sent me very reluctantly, just to stop me crying after my sisters left each day for school! I only realised a few years ago why that particular song brought the house down, and got me the most ice cream. In my baby talk I'd sing, "Anybody seen my Kitty" with a T instead of a K!My father was most talented in playing the Banjo and Ukelele. He was a self taught musician who far surpassed most trained ones. I was the youngest sibling, and took a liking to playing these instruments. I found it difficult then and even now to play with ease because of my short fingers. I can never find a guitar that is comfortable, so my playing is limited to strumming.I loved being in school plays and represented my school on Radio, became my School's No 1 singer and won my first Singing Competition at 14 singing Frank Sinatra's "Time After Time".I came to England from Jamaica in my teens. I entered a TV Contest and won. This landed me a job at the elite "River Club" in London. I went on to perform at The Astor, The Pigalle, The Stork and other Night Clubs in London and other parts of the UK. I also sang on the Continent and had the pleasure of touring with Roy Orbison, opening his Show singing "Blue Beat" to thousands of screaming fans for a whole month. I had four children by then, and I hated being away from them, so my career was very restricted.I left the Stage after a Great Miracle changed my life, but I have never stopped singing. I had three more children later on, who have followed in my footsteps in my love of music. I trained two of my boys Daniel and Joel when I became a vocal coach. They both have the most awesome and dynamic voices you could ever hope to hear. You can hear Joel singing on www.myspace.com/joelewensswingsCheerio,Beverly Mills.
