Gary Zywicki - Lead, Rhythm, Bass, Programming
Gary started playing guitar at fifteen, inspired by metal masters Tony Iommi and Randy Rhoads. Through out his late teens/early twenties he played in various metal outfits like Misanthropy," Wretch," Black Hat Factory," etc. None of which really gained any recognition but where valuable learning experiences and forged this diehard metal fan into one of the underground's most promising talents. Some of his favorite bands are Sabbath, Priest, Crue, NYC Hardcore and Metal, Pantera, etc. His musical philosophy is everything has been done before so I just use what comes out and go with it." Expounding, I try to write evil" sounding riffs. And, after you hear some off the demonic riffing and leads on Goblin's Sewn Together...Torn Apart" demo you'll surely agree this warrior has surely succeeded with his diabolical plot. Sam Biles - Vokills
Sam's interest in music started early on in life. At five he recalls sitting on his father's lap and picking out his first album, KISS "Destroyer." (Which got destroyed in a Show and Tell" accident in kindergarten, but that's another story). From there on out it was all downhill. The older kids" in the neighborhood introduced him to such greats as Sabbath and Priest. Hours were spent around one of those big oldskool record players, that was more a piece of furniture than a component." Air guitaring and singing along to "the Lord of the Wasteland" and I am Iron Man." Surviving the whole disco bullshit (although the BeeGees are sick!) and phasing into the new wave of Heavy Bands" like Iron Maiden, Crue, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Kreator, etc. And, also getting introduced to Hardcore and Industrial styles via Agnostric Front, The Misfits, D.R.I., Samhain, 7 Seconds, The Accused, Skinny Puppy, FrontLine Assembly, etc. Remaining just an avid music fan until some great local (Pittsburgh) acts (Half Life, DoomWatch, Dream Death, etc) sparked the thought or the possibility of being involved with the creation of music. So one fateful evening in 87, Sam and some friends got together to form his first band "Dead Baby Korpses." Being naive, we wanted to make sure no one confused us with the Dead Brain Cells?, hehe. It was bloody awful but it was fun as fuck and taught me a lot about being a singer and music in general. After D.B.K. broke up in early '89. Sam reformed with friends Joel and Feev to create the now legendary Hideous Mangleus. Putting out such great slabs as the We Live.." and Unearthing Grandma's Grave" Eps. And later, their All Your Friends are Dead" CD on Ecocentric records (available at [email protected] and also through Sam). (Hideous is currently in a state of limbo) Aging his growl the whole time through. In the summer of '97 Sam got together with old friend Gary to form a "Metal" band. As you are about to know, the rest is history!!! To contact Sam write [email protected].
Just to mention, Sam's fave grind/death singer or his influence for trying to have the most bestial growl possible is Lee Dorian of "the real" Napalm Death. Ross from Immolation was also an influence early on. And Bill Crooks from Cryptic Slaughter.
As far as influence on stage presence and theatrics, OzzY and Gene Simmons surely ring a bell.
Influences: SABBATH, PRIEST, PAINEATER, CELTIC FROST, PANTERA, OZZY, ETC...
Sounds Like: VERY HEAVY METAL!!!
