About Me

John Lauritzen

Why I'm here: I joined MySpace to meet other metal-fans like myself and say hello to the fans of Fairytale Abuse and the other bands I've played in. I am currently involved in a two man prog-metal project with ex-F.A. drummer Troels.Feel free to drop a note about my bassplaying, my music or whatever crosses your mind. Stay metal!
Who I'd like to meet: John Myung - The bassplayer in Dream Theater, Rex - Pantera, Shawn Marion, Kevin Garnett and King James - basketball players, Bill Clinton - Made the World a better place.
Music: My primary influences are and have always been progressive metal bands. Bands like Dream Theater, Symphony X, Liquid Tension Experiment, Pain of Salvation and Sinphonia just happen know how to make me smile of pure admiration. The experimental approach combined with the heavy and deep metal edge has always appealed to me and always will, more than any other style of music on this planet.Of course the Black Metal genre also has a huge spot in my heart. Bands like Cradle Of Filth, Old Man's Child and Dimmu Borgir are awesome, no doubt, and I've enjoyed being a part of a Black Metal Project myself. A lot of other metal-CD's are also found on my shelves: Pantera, In Flames, Pink Floyd (rock??) and Sepultura. In the more relaxing and main-stream end of my musical taste you find bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers (the old shit), Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler and Michael Jackson. I really adore skilled musicians and bands where the individual instruments melt together and form a greater unit.
Gear: I play the Yamaha RBX6-JM (John Myung signature), which I've done for quite a few years now. It's a really fast bass and a good looking one too! I use an Ashdown MAG-300 amp, which together with my effectboard really creates the sounds that are important to making the rhytm-section of any band sound deep and dark. I have two Ashdown cabinets as well. A MAG-410 which consists of four 10" speakers and a treble-horn and then the MAG-115 cabinet with one deep mother f****** 15" speaker. Just love putting it work with intense B-string sections...

Leaving Fairytale Abuse

Six months ago I decided to leave Fairytale Abuse. It was a tough decision since the band has played such a big part of my life for the last four years. On the other hand it was without a doubt the ri...
