At the heart of things Jedediah Xavier Larson is a musician. The turntables are just one of his instruments. Jed's interest in music started with the guitar. He played in bands for the better part of his teenage years until he figured out how to overdub using a tape recorder, a stereo and his guitar.Soon, Jed was producing music on a four track with a sampler, drum machine, guitar and keyboard. Simultaneously, the overwhelming popularity of raves and djing apexed infront of Jed and led him into the vast world of electronic music. So far, in fact, that he soon found himself playing techno and living in Manchester, UK. He spent the year of 2001-2002 studying abroad and learning the ropes of djing through the local scene. Then he returned to Seattle and teamed up with djs Cojo and The Rukkus to form a 2x4 tag team trio known as The Technicians. The Technicians rocked crowds all over Seattle from the fall of 2002 until the summer of 2003 - mostly playing for Bucklup Productions. Recently, JedX and Cojo have formed the production team the Crackaz - a dynamic duo fusing the elements of the digital with the organic. When the Bucklup raves started dying down, Jed started playing in more clubs and found himself turning back to house music. Recently, with the scene turning more digital and the heavy resurgence of electro, Jed has actually found himself returning to his roots and seeking a more "live" sound. With that, he picked back up the guitar and started incorporating it into his dj sets. Over the last couple of years, his fusion of live music with djing has become more and more apparent. He's even started inviting other musicians to join in during his sets giving audiences more of a sense that they're watching a band.
Over the last few years, JedX, Cory Jones, Nato and Ben Shelton formed the production company Subsidize Music. It all started with the notorious club night Why Not Wednesdays at Watertown - a club night that helped many of today's local djs get their foot in the door. Currently, Subsidize is throwing a weekly Wednesday night event at the Baltic Room called Sumpin Ta Do. The drink specials are insane and the music is always top notch, ranging from deep, funk and broken beat to electro and progressive house - never a cover. You can also catch the Subsidize crew afterhours at the Contour on the first Thursday of the month.Jed's been having a blast playing in the northwest! Most of his gigs are Seattle based but his ventures have taken him to Portland, Canada, Phoenix, San Diego and LA as well. He even went as far as Germany to play at the What is Art Festival in Luisen Park, Mannheim! He feels - "the more diversity and culture you expose yourself to, and have to influence you, the more effective you will be - ultimately - in your ability to communicate your art to others. . . "Don't miss JedX! His sets have high energy and a sweeping dynamic scope, ranging from deep to hard to breaks, but always funky!!
