About Me

I'm intellectual, independent, offbeat, sarcastic and occasionally shy. I consider myself to be a low maintenance vegetarian. Indoor stuff I like to do: theatre, movies, occasional night clubbing (goth) or live music, going to art galleries, finding strange new restaurants, and playing darts (badly). Outdoor stuff I like to do: bike, ski, hike, rafting/ canoeing, and loitering.

My Interests

Music:

Old school alternative (Siouxsie and the Banshees, NIN, PIL, REM and other acronyms), gothy stuff (Dead Can Dance, Cruxshadows, Black Tape for a Blue Girl), german industrial/dance (Beborn Benton), crunchy granola music (Poi Dog Pondering, Indigo Girls) current obvious stuff (Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand) But somehow I still really have a soft spot for Crosby Stills and Nash. No. Really.

Movies:

Dogma - well, anything by Kevin Smith that was not Jay and Silent Bob, Amelie, Real Genius, anything by Christopher Guest, The Hunger, anything by the Cohen Brothers, Run Lola Run, anything by David Lynch

Television:

Project Runway, Grey's Anatomy, The Daily Show

Books:

Margaret Atwood, Gregory Maguire, Neil Gaiman (prefer novels over graphic novels), Christopher Moore, Joseph Campbell, the GRE prep-test

Shiny. Happy.

I don't know if it was the coffee or the Nitzer Ebb that's making me feel insanely happy today.

stranger in a strange land

Okay, so my challenge for this past Sunday was to try and get rid of the very bad V-neck tan I got at the pride parade. (I have a wedding to be in in a week and a half). In order to do so, I had to w...

99% Evil

During my freshman year of college I was friends with a girl named Stephanie.  Steph was nice, and we had a shared interest in Depeche Mode (it was still the 80's).  Steph's dad, however, wa...

ah, to dream

Overslept today. I was caught up in a dream where my parents inherited $24 million dollars from some unknown uncle. We were at a mall and there was all of this pressure to shop. It was both horribl...

Okay - so myspace seems to be listing August as one LONG day. Interesting. Just got an e-mail from a coworker checking to see if the presentation he sent me was the correct revision. He has label...

suspicious foods

I deeply suspect the "vegetarian Pad Thai" served for lunch was, in fact, made with chicken stock. I suppose I'll find out in a few hours, won't I. Today is impossibly slow. So slow, in fact, I'v...

self control

There is cake in the board room. We got an e-mail about it. But I will not have cake. I will have dried apples. Yay dried apples. Fuck, I would really like a piece of cake.

too much caffeine in my bloodstream

I seem to be getting into all kinds of trouble lately. Trouble in the good way. As mentioned, an old friend came in to visit a couple of weekends ago. To celebrate his return to Chicago, we felt th...
