Drastik Measure first got into DNB in around 2000 when a school friend gave him a Nicky ‘Black market’ mix tape, He couldn’t believe his ears as this new genre of music infected him to his very core. His friend never saw the tape again as Drastik Measures used it to immerse himself into the world of DNB.
First he started raving which is how it started for most of today’s well known DJ’s and producers and buying tape packs and CD’s although he enjoyed it all from a ravers perspective it wasn’t quite quenching his thirst for more bass!!.
Then a pivotal moment in 2003. What Drastik thought was yet another tape pack he would just chill back and listen to turned out to be the very moment he would restructure his life and go for a career in music.
It wasn’t the DJ or the MC that caught his attention it was the crowd, he could hear horns and shouting the traditional Brrrrap!! and Boooooo!! being shouted at the dj, it was shortly after this he got his first set of turntables.
Realising he actually didn’t know how to mix an addiction was born, the next few years were all about listening to those trusty tape packs and analysing when tunes were brought in and out before long everything was starting to make sense it’s this attention to detail that would come in handy when the third stage of his DnB experience would kick in.
With mixing cracked Drastik Measure set his sights on playing sets outside of the bedroom, A few demo CD’s later he found himself playing in front of a baying crowd at the infamous Romone bar with a primetime slot of 11-12 not only that but he also managed to get himself on to undergroundflavas.com with a regular show. With word spreading about Drastik Measures bookings started to come in thick and fast.
In around 2005 Drastik Measures decided that Tape packs weren’t enough, Dj’ing was great but still there was something missing, in 2005 he enrolled himself on a music production course at the world famous Hurricane Studios, by 2006 he started to build himself a home studio, things were really moving now almost without him realising the dj’ing had taken a back seat, By 2007 he had started to make beats each one being better the last. In just a year records labels started to get in contact he has his 1st track ‘LAST STAND’ due for release this summer (label to be comfirmed)
. shortly after 'LAST STAND' was signed (in fact the day after) that Dj Rekless got in touch, Rekless co – owns Cyntax Error Records with Dj Dazzler. Rekless was very impressed with Drastik measures very current sound and his ability to turn his hand to any and all genres of drum and bass, numbers were exchanged and it wasn’t long before Rekless and dazzler were on Drastiks doorstep waving a record contract at him.So here we are 2008, 3yrs after Drastik 1st set foot inside hurricane studios and he has signed a contract with one of the most exciting record labels to come out of drum and bass in years, His 1st release on Cyntax Error ‘Bionic Man’ (Cat no: CE005) is due for release late spring. It is a fast paced dance floor orientated piece of perfection with a drop that equals the atom bomb and a sample that is a classic alot of producers have attempted but not with this degree of impact that on its own tells you that Drastik Measures is and will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of Drum and bass.this bio was written by REKLESS.
