LIU's Jazz Studies program is one of the few jazz programs in the New York metropolitan area featuring a full range musical studies and experiences from theoretical to practical. This program leads to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music with specialization in instrumental, vocal or composition and arranging.The world's leading jazz professionals participate in the Jazz Studies programs. Class instructors, ensemble directors, clinicians and private teachers have included Jimmy Heath, Michael Brecker , Phil Woods, Frank Foster, Barry Harris, Slide Hampton, Jimmy Cobb, Sheila Jordan, and Mark Murphy.
