About Me

T-DUNN A.K.A ONE MANCARMICHEAL CITYKIDD A.K.A. DA GINGERBREAD MAN“Entertainment,” says Malcom Carmicheal, “brings us back to the days of jesters juggling for kings—it’s a necessary outlet that some people need.” Established Entertainment markets fresh performers who search for a stage, microphone, and an audience. The members of Established Entertainment help artists market and promote themselves at bars, nightclubs, cafes, and other Boston venues. They provide contacts to recording studios, producers, writers, graphic artists, and a lyrically divine atmosphere. The entertainment company consists of Tarquinia (Queena), Tarrance Brown (T-Brown), James Spriggs (J Spriggs), Malcom Carmicheal (The Gingerbread Man) and Tyson Dunn (T-Dunn), who all collaborate to further an artists career. Their business runs off a bartering basis, therefore, when you and your group are looking for a venue, Established Entertainment finds your stage. Do you have a stand-up act that needs to be heard? Can you sing, write, record, model, beat box, or break out in harmony? Established Entertainment, originally E-Stab, works with a diverse clientele of those who are trying to help themselves. “Its no fly by night thing,” said J Spriggs, “ We help you toward your goals and you help us toward ours.” Queena and T-Brown are hustling the voices that speak the truth on the streets or in the nightclubs. T-Brown, Queena, and Spriggs search for lyrical souls who are ready to get promoted. T-Dunn and The Gingerbread Man speak the rhymes and perform a vocal/poetical genre of what E-Stab brings to the stage. The Gingerbread Man represents Carmicheal’s alter ego he came up with to illustrate the phrase, “catch me if you can.” He discussed the story of an elderly couple with only cookies to eat. “They had to satisfy themselves in the moment, but their food runs away,” said Carmicheal, “My people are looking for something to eat. Put me in the oven—when I come out I’m running and if you want this food, you’ll come after me. I’m trying to lead people out of the ghettos, out of the box.” The Gingerbread Man noticed less soulfulness in the tempo of the streets. He knows some people are at a fast pace and want to throw down on some witty, slick talk, or even aggressive rap, but his main voice carries a calm R&B melody. A major theme, recognized by the venues, is the relaxed atmosphere of the audience. Everyone works together to put on a show and then kicks back at the bar. The audience/ performer interactions are close-knit and realness of Hip Hop gets spoken by some deep artists. I visited J Spriggs and Carmicheal at the All Asia Café for some pints and some entertainment. Carmicheal’s voice set the tone for the evening and live performers brought the hype to the stage. The food and beers were lovely and I fronted like my Gannon University keychain with Guinness bottle opener was my bling…bling. Carmicheal’s next performance is April 14th at Slades Bar& Grill, for the Urban Music Awards After Party, or catch Established Entertainment hosting an April 25th R&B Explosion at the Dublin House in Dorchester. Sumpmm Sumpmm Saturdays, every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, are filmed by Spotlight DVD at the All Asia Café T-Dunn and Carmicheal have spins on 88.9 WERS, 88.1 WMBR and Power 106.1. If your looking for ways to get in touch with organizations like Beanstock Record, Spotlight Dvd, and various venues hosted by Establishment Entertainment, find a network and get on stage. J Spriggs definitely rocks all different genres of music. He’ll throw on some Biggy Smalls instrumental in the morning, hit up WERS by the afternoon and polish off the day by listening to the lyrics of a fresh artist. Let Spriggs know your interested in performing and he’ll get the party started. Carmicheal prefers some Isaac Hayes or Curtis Mayfield. He wants performers to know that, “ A lot of artists get too serious. Life should be fun. We know the systems off track. We know we can’t always pay the bills but we can’t ever lose the fun and the emotion put into entertainment.”-written by Christian "Gishy" Peterson [email protected]
