Wayne Myers was born in a garden shed on the back of a lorry driving through London's glamorous West End in 1971, and would have technically been a Cockney had the lorry driver come off the South Circular Road a bit sooner instead of getting lost in town. His mother was not impressed, and it was only a matter of time before he learned to play the guitar and began writing songs.
In the meantime, Wayne got all confused and distracted and also learned to play the bass guitar, which he has been trying to give up ever since; unfortunately, people like Vivachi and My Scarlet Darling won't let him.
He also thinks he plays the piano, but the less said about that the better, quite frankly, though he has been known to turn up with a Yamaha at weddings and barmitzvahs wearing a special Jazz hat and sit there playing variations on themes out of the Real Book until people pay him in cash to go away. That's a Yamaha piano, by the way, not a motorbike.
Wayne is currently recording some new acoustic material, which he describes as 'green and sort of a bit like felt, only thicker', which he bought out of the Studiospares catalogue for some exorbitant price. In the meantime, this myspace page showcases various tunes for which he takes full responsibility, including the previously unreleased 'Turnaround', which he is unable to sing any more, not in that key anyway, 'Dark Eyes', a tune previously released under the name Fast Freddie Fourier , and which features Kevin G Davy on trumpet, and two other recordings which are essentially examples of Wayne turning up to the Royal Exchange pub in Camden and shouting at people until they bought him a drink.
He is hoping to do some gigs in the next little while since it does get him out of the house, and frankly he could do with getting out of the house. Actually, he probably ought to move, but you know how it is. Anyway.
Oh yes, and he draws a cartoon , or, again, at least thinks he does.
Right. That's enough biog.
