About Me

Nashville, TN - June 30, 2006 - Theres a certain soulful quality to bluegrass music that some people feel you have to be born with. Its something that just cant be manufactured by the music industry. Certain artists come by that gift naturally. Scott Partridge is one of those artists and its readily evident on every song of his new self-titled disc. The project has been released on his own label, Savona South Records, and is available at www.scottpartridgeband.com, among other outlets.Sometimes it takes being a fish out of water to make someone realize their true calling. A lifelong musician, Partridge was lured away from the Nashville music scene and accepted a coveted executive position in Los Angeles with a major entertainment magazine. Success and security seemed assured, but happiness and contentment werent part of the equation. Talk about a hillbilly being out of place, he says with an amused laugh. It was really bad. Just for my own satisfaction, Id drive up and down Hollywood Boulevard in my old redneck pickup with Del McCoury music just a blaring out the windows. I watched everybody on the streets starring at me like I was the odd ball.Homesick and creatively chafing at the bit, Partridge returned to Music City, bought a log cabin in the woods and set about making music again. The result is an album that combines the bluegrass and country influences that have shaped Partridges unique artistry. With a distinctive voice that combines classic country phrasing with that high lonesome sound that defines the best in bluegrass, Partridge breathes life into an engaging collection of tunes.Partridge is joined on this musical outing by some of the most acclaimed musicians in bluegrass music. Rob McCoury, a member of the Del McCoury Bandnine time winners of the International Bluegrass Music Associations entertainer of the year accoladelends his talents on banjo. Ward Stout co-produces and plays fiddle. Dave Peterson adds harmony. The finished project reflects a lifetime of musical experience from an artist whose passion for traditional music permeates every cut. The album opens with the high-energy Nickajack Moonshine, a newly penned tune sure to become a favorite at bluegrass festivals. The album also includes Partridges unique take one several classics. He covers Tom T. Halls The Year That Clayton Delaney Died as well as the standard I Wonder Where You Are Tonight. He serves up an engaging bluegrass rendition of the Statler Brothers hit Bed of Roses, and pays homage to Vern Gosdin on Dim Lights, Thick Smoke.Though the album contains compelling renditions of some of countrys best-loved tunes, the project also showcases Partridges songwriting talents. Workin Mans Hands, written by Partridge, Russ Roberts, and Ed Lassan, is a tribute to a hard working man who loved his wife and family beyond measure. Another standout track, co-written by Partridge is Father Time, a beautiful love song that boasts an ear-catching melody and heartfelt lyric. Partridge is joined by newcomer Natalie Sanders on the engaging duet 1-800 Do U Care. The album also features two stirring gospel songsOther Side Of Life and the Harley Allen/Bobby Carmichael-penned Gods Plan.
