About Me

I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
I'm a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan born and raised in Texas. I was born in Monahans, Texas. Later we moved to Denver City, TX and then to our final stop, Kermit, Texas. Growing up in west Texas was a lot of fun and that's where my passion for football began. My Dad would always take us to the local high school football games every Friday night. In fact, that's where everyone was on Friday nights. Next, I developed a loyalty to the Texas Longhorns and then my interest in the Pittsburgh Steelers started to grow. I was the only Steeler fan that I knew, so I had to keep quiet. One year, I asked my Mom for a small Pittsburgh Steeler helmet alarm clock for Christmas. Boy was I excited when I opened the box. That clock set by my bed for years until it stopped working. Even though it quit working, I still kept it in my Steelers collection. Somehow, I never imagined myself ever leaving Kermit. After 2 unsuccessful moves after graduation to San Angelo and San Antonio, I was convinced that Kermit would be my home forever. My Mom died in 1982, and I found myself at a crossroads. I decided to move to Austin, Texas. I was very impressed with what I was seeing. When I drove by Memorial stadium and realized that this was the home of the Texas Longhorns, I knew this was where I was going to live for a while. I started going to games and later with the help of a buddy of mine (Randall Tate), I soon had season tickets. I found a sports bar that carried the Steelers games and now I was set. I soon became a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Club of Austin Texas. Later, Randall introduced me to the world of travel and soon thereafter, I was making yearly trips to Pittsburgh for Steelers games. I never imagined this would ever happen to me, but from 1995 thru 2006, I had been to 37 of the 50 states as well as cities in Canada like Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Victoria and Quebec City. I had also traveled to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Salzsburg, Rome, Milan, Florence, Pisa, Bologna, Venice, Brecia, Munich, Frankfurt, Prague, and Belinzona and Lugano Switzerland. Some of the highlights that stand out in my life are attending an outdoor mass given by Pope John Paul II in San Antonio in 1987. Going to Disneyland for the very first time in 1989. Meeting John Stallworth in 1981, Terry Bradshaw in 1983, Mike Tomczak, Merrill Hoge and Kevin Greene in 1992, Rod Woodson and Bill Cowher in 1993, Lynn Swann in 1997, Mean Joe Greene in 2005. Visting St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican City. Enjoying the beautiful beaches of Hawaii in 2001. Attending the 2002 AFC Playoff game in frozen Pittsburgh between the Steelers and the Ravens which we won 27-10. Also attending back to back Rose Bowls. The 2004 Rose Bowl between Texas and Michigan that Texas won 38-37. And the most exciting game of my life..the 2005 National Championship between TEXAS and USC which we won in the final seconds of the game 41-38.
