Biography
Witheria started its course in the late ninetees, more specificly in 1999, when the previous band of Kusmar, Rob and then guitarist Hardon had more or less disbanded. The first sign of Witheria was seen at an autumnal rehearsal session, where a new song was born. That song was Selfhaunted, a track that still keeps on haunting the members of Witheria.
Soon after the completion of Selfhaunted, two other tracks were born and rehearsed. In the meantime Witheria also found themselves a crude sounding vocalist, the aptly named Tuberculosis. Thus the band was ready for their first ever studio session.
Soon Witheria, or Fallout as they were called back then, released their first demo. The release in question contained three tracks, which were recorded and mixed in one day! The technical quality of the recording was, however, terrible. The quality of the songs was better, though.
The following two years were pretty uneventful for Witheria, as they released only one pretty awful recording Demo 02. WIthin this period the band, however, changed their name from Fallout to Witheria and also completed their line up along with the addition of a permanent bassist, Skeletor.
In 2003 Witheria did their first live appearance in the almost legendary Helsinki based club namely Factory. Year 2003 was also marked by the release of Witheria´s third demo Pureditself, containing among others the song Purification, which can also be found on the band´s debut full lenght album.
In 2004 the band recorded Promo 04, their best release to date. The recording in question was recorded at Seawolf Studios by engineer Jukka Varmo, who is the same guy that recorded Witheria´s debut album. In the end of 2004 Witheria also started playing live on a more regular basis than before.
Year 2005 was a turning point fo Witheria as the band deicided that they would record a full lenght album instead of another demo, although they hadn´t a recording deal. The full lenght was recorded in August at Jive Studio in Helsinki. Witheria also played live quite regularly that year. In 2005 Witheria faced their first line up change, too, when long time axeman Hardon was replaced by dexterous rhythm guitarist J. Warhead. Another change of the line up followed the next year when Skeletor was replaced by the scary Predator.
Witheria´s plans for the near future include getting their second album released as well as rehearsing the new material in order to play some gigs later this year. There are also plans to fulfill the deepest inner fantasies of Witheria within the next quarter. How this will happen, remains to be seen.
