Born in Berkley, California, raised in East Oakland (96th and Hillside) till the age of 10, and then moving to Sacramento, California where he spent most of his childhood, "Kenex" has been rapping since the tender age of 7.
Insipired by emerging bay area artists like Tupac, Digital Underground, and The Luniz, he got his first big break opening up for other local Bay area artists like Richie Rich and Ant Banks.
As a young teenage rapper, the streets were calling, and "Kenex" answered. He started hanging out with local hustlers learning the drug game. He started hustlin in high school. "I lost a lot of friends and family members to the game", says Kenex. "I got robbed for my jewels at gun point and almost died that night. My moms convinced me that God has given me a second chance to pursue my passion and love as a rapper, to make a difference with talents I was blessed with."
In 2004, he sparked the interest of several notable producers at the Billboard Music Awards in Miami, Florida. He also gained equal respect after performing and freestylin' for all in attendance. But with the industry flooded with new artists, "Kenex" quickly learned the meaning of "hype-nitous" and continued to write new material everyday.
In 2005, he was introduced to Eli McCoy (aka "Prophet"), founder of Street Genius, a new independent record label with an original vision, to be "Organic".
