ETHREAL

About Me

Ethreal has been around for about 4 years now, and has been through
the rise and declines of the Metal scene in Pasadena. Throughout all
of the recent styles and musical trends that have run rampant in the
Main-stream of the Underground, Ethreal has managed to retain
their original sound, and redefine it again and again.
The original idea of the band came from Ivan Huerta (Guitarist) and
Jaime De Leon (Former Bassist). Shortly after the two crossed paths during their
high school days, they sought out for other musicians who shared the
same passions. The response was overwhelming to say the least...
The band actually started out having 4 guitarists, the idea was to rotate
them throughout the shows, but the guys soon realized that this idea
was never going to work... After a few months of recalibrating
and careful selection, they were ready as a 5-piece band.
Ethreal first began
playing at a venue called "The Pitt" and made it their home for a
period of time, then the time came to spread their wings and
expand their fan base out to other venues in Houston, Deer Park,
La Porte, Baytown, Cypress, San Antonio and more...
..Members
Like Ethreal's sound, the band's lineup of members has also made some drastic changes, after a few undisclosed disputes and disagreements the band decided that their Vocalist, Jason Whitlow and Drummer, Gerardo Quider go their separate ways. The band did not remain inactive for long, Ethreal immediately scoured the local scene for talent to replace the former members. After only 2 vocalist tryouts, the band decided to make former Juggernaut Metalface vocalist, Brandon Hurley full-time front man for Ethreal. It took 7, long, and tedious tryouts before the band decided on taking on the young, but talented Saul Mena as drummer for the band. Just when the band thought their line-up was solid Jaime De Leon decided to leave the band to pursue other passions. Yet again, Ethreal's determination and durability was tested... They took a small break to search for a replacement. Newcomer, Eric Puente wasted no time in fully committing himself to trying out for bass. He was put through the trials and tribulations to make sure he fit just right with the guys, and he did in fact pass. The current line-up is as follows, Brandon Hurley (Vocals), Ivan Huerta (Guitar). Adan Huerta (Guitar), Eric Puente (Bass), and Saul Mena (Drums). With the exception of Ivan and Adan being twin brothers, everyone in Ethreal has all come from different walks of lifes that all lead them to make music together... The personalities of the members are very contrasting, but also similar in some ways that make for a very balanced band. There are absolutely NO egos in Ethreal, being humble and respectful towards all musicians has been of utmost importance to the band. If there was a few things the band wanted to be remembered for, it would be being Respectful, and Original.
..Sound
Originality, is what is on Ethreal's mind when it comes to writing music. However, that does not mean that the band didn't have it's influences. The biggest influences to the instrumental work and drumming is mainly by Killswitch Engage and Trivium, with a bit of Metallica and even some German acts such as Fear My Thoughts. Various underground bands also played their part in influencing the guys. When it comes to the Bassist and Vocals, that's where the band's influences broaden out as far as Wednesday 13 and In This Moment to Incubus and Breaking Benjamin. All the influences help develop the style, but all of the music is completely genuine. Ethreal does not believe in even stealing other bands' work, or even following the popular trend... Ethreal plays what they beleive is Emotion through music. If it just so happens to sound like Metal, then that is what they will be labeled, but Ethreal does not label themselves a "Metalcore" band. They usually leave it up to the Listener's ear to determine that.
