Meet Melanie Torres: She was born and raised by her grandmother in Spanish Harlem and was the first person in her family to graduate from college. After going on to attend law school and being admitted to the NY State Bar Association, she sold a screenplay, On 2, to Miramax Films. This afforded her the opportunity to pursue her true dream of opening up the Dance On 2 dance school. She has worked with Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Jose Alberto "El Canario," El Gran Combo, La India and many other well-known Latin artists. She has acted opposite Danny Glover, Michelle Rodriguez and Paul Calderon and appeared in a major iPod television commercial. She is currently the director of the Copa Girls dance troop and is also choreographing a musical to debut at The Apollo Theatre.
