I really do appreciate that you're sittin' here. Your voice sounds so wonderful, but your face don't

About Me

If you ask a little boy what he wants to do when he grows up, his answer will probably be one of the things I've done.I'm a pilot, having earned my first aeronautical rating just after my 17th birthday. I was a sailor, I served with the Marines, and I was a soldier. I got to play doctor in Vietnam as a hospital corpsman. I've been a policeman, a teacher, and a fireman.I never was a cowboy, but when I was in the Navy I always got confused about how to tie all those knots. So it's probably a good thing that I never tried to tie up a bull, or whatever. If you ask an adult what he wants to do, it would probably be what I'm doing now.I'm retired, living in Florida. I fly rented Cessnas out of Merritt Island Airport, volunteer to serve as a Civil Air Patrol officer, drive a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and I live in a real nice house with a pool overlooking a lake and a tropical preserve.I don't have to work, I don't have to pay taxes, and I get a check from the government on the first of every month. After a life of being a hard-working Republican, I've earned the right to live like a Democrat.

My Interests

Flying, Riding my Harley, Playing with my dog. That's about it.Oh, yeah, sometimes on weekends I hit some of the local bars.

I'd like to meet:

Any one of my former bosses... as long as they're working as the Door Greeter at Wal-Mart!

Music:

Since rock and roll died and went to hell in the 1980's, I have developed a taste for country and western. For me, anyway, Jimmy Buffett has moved from the status of "Cultural Icon" to "Personal Role Model."

Movies:

Old movies are best. I have a collection of old war movies. Dawn Patrol, Sands of Iwo Jima, Casablanca, Heartbreak Ridge, We Were Soldiers, Stripes, Wake Island, lots more.

Television:

I only watch the news. TV sucks for the most part

Books:

Anything by Tom Clancy

Heroes:

Just about everybody I've served with over the years. Some are even still alive!

Key West

I was in a rut. OK, I quit my job to enjoy retirement, but there's only so much to do on the Space Coast.  What do you do when there is nothing you HAVE to do? There is only one answer ...

United States vs. Adolph Hitler aka Adolph Schickelgruber

Time tends to erase details from my memory, but not essential facts.  Not yet, anyway.  So I can't tell you what college course I was taking when I had to research and present a case against...

Decisions in the Fog of War

It seems our Intel folks have a Christmas present for us. The National Intelligence Estimate, which is revised every two years, now says that the Iranians have seen the light, and have stopped trying ...

Lawyers and War

The Supreme Court is going to hear the cases of the prisoners at Guantanamo. The Liberals and other America-haters think this is a great idea.  They like it because it will help the Islamics win ...

A Decision I Can Live With
