I really hate this. Getting me to talk about myself is like pulling teeth.
I was born and raised in Ontario, Cali - the Inland Empire...a county that lies next to Los Angeles. I grew up on hip-hop...I can't really say I was one of those kids surrounded by music all the time, but when I met this music, I fell in love. I guess through that I grew to appreciate a lot of other types of music, mostly Rhythm & Blues and Soul. There's just something about honest music that gets me, and it doesn't get any more honest than hip-hop.
I came in a fan. I was reading the magazines and waiting at the record stores for the newest joints long before I ever thought about making music. I lived and breathed this music. It honestly came out of nowhere, me actually stepping into the other side of it all. Although, you'd probably have a hard time convincing anybody of that who listens to my music. Somebody told me once, "Some people have a gift...you have an annointing". That meant a lot to me.
I started work on my debut album in May of 2003. We wrapped it up and released it to the streets in fall of 2004. Me and my partners Lil' Suge and Ed Money hit the streets hard, selling the album from the trunk of my car. Gas stations, liquor stores, malls...whatever. You name it, we were there selling you my music. It took us until late 2006, but we flooded over 9,000 copies of my album through the West Coast by the time we were ready to release my second album.
I promote my music all over California, sometimes out of state, so I do shows all over the place...really wherever they pop up. We do a lot of our own headline events, but I've opened up for cats liked E-40, Bone Thugs...whatever seems like it would be a good place to introduce my music to new people. That's what it's all about.
Since so much blood, sweat and tears were poured into our grind, I'd like to sit here and brag about what we've accomplished out there, but at the end of the day...I'm only anything because the Lord allowed me to be. And it's the people in the streets that make all this for me. I'm nothing without every single one of those people, and they all mean the world to me like they were the only person that ever bought the album. I ain't even gotta tell them, they already know. It's nothing but love, right back.
We've just released my brand new street album, 'Somethin's Gotta Give', we're at about 3,000 copies sold so far. I don't even know what to say about the record...it's just...man. I'm the most blessed dude alive, how about that. If you haven't copped the album yet, stop by and pick it up...everything I do, I do for you. Enough said.
