Ok, I'll try to be as brief as possible. My name is Christopher Williams but I'm not the New Jack City guy. I just happen to have the same name by birth and into the same Industry. I'm originally from Chicago but I've lived in Miami Beach Flr. and pretty much raised in between New York and Chicago my adult yrs. I've been in the music biz for over 20 yrs. I've made allot of friends and it's no secret that I have a pretty substantial Industry contact database. I helped quite a few major artist make contract adjustments, form thier own labels, publishing firms, and learn ASCAP, BMI and copyright prosessing requirements.I am the author/owner of the "Enter the Music Industry" educational program created for Chicago Public School system that was legally supported by Billboard, Elektra Records, Dreamworks Records, J Records, Interscope,ASCAP, and the Register of Copyrights of the Library of Congress. I am a producer/engineer/pianist/artist/composer/ songwriter. My heart is R&B. I own a recording studio, a music publishing firm, and an Independent record label. I produce Hip Hop, and R&B music,and lyrics. I am a ASCAP Publisher/ Writer member since 1992 re-elected in 1999. I shop original material to Major and Major Independent record company A&R. I am a music Industry consultant and legal novice.Ok, now that all thats out the way, I'm just plain ol Chris. People usually seek me out for my contacts, copyright issues, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC,or Foreign Performance Rights Organizations registration assistance, book studio time, purchase orginal tracks(beats), have me play the music over instead of using samples, or of course Shopping their material to Majors for distribution or Top 40 radio promotions.So all that brings us to the Real Talk section. I've been in the game for a long time. I make a living at this. You can have all the raw talent in the world but that doesn't matter to most A&R directors. What matters to them is your fanbase and units sold so don't enivsion contacting me to go along with your dreams without upfront funding. The same thing goes for studio time and original material I produce. Time cost me so I charge you 1st.Also, under no circumstance do I or anyone of my staff except unprotected material at anytime. What I will do is walk you through the SR/PA form so it's done correctly and avoid correspondance from the copyright office. Don't lie about the registration either! it takes us 15 to 20 minutes to complete a search in the copyright office. The infamous "POOR MAN'S COPYRIGHT" does not hold up in a court of law so that mail it yourself thing only proves to us that you don't even have faith in your own material so why should we? One last thing I wanna say tho: To all the rappers who number more than the rest for tracks. Thats all good but to the ones that come to me to push them, I gotta be honest.
