J. Jolaine - Vocal Artist/Songwriter

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

.. Myspace Layouts + Myspace Graphics I sing all of the time. I rehearsed BEFORE I knew what the word meant, because I just loved singing. I critiqued myself and made an effort to improve. I have tested my lyrical limits and feel mostly confident in my abilities as a singer. Even with all of that going for me, I have not yet stepped into the realm of live performance (of my own material). I'm working on that though. I AM trying to get my material placed in Film/TV and have joined a few organizations to make myself more known and accessible - TAXI, Songu, Broadjam, Sonicbids (I hope I can say that). And now I'm eyeing Pump Audio too. I am a collector and reader of music publications/newsletters. My personal philosophy is broad, but I will say this much: To Not Try, Is To Die. I WILL MAKE IT IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS. The tide has changed. The door is open. And I am walking through.

  • My Interests

SINGING, Reading, Making Music, Writing, and always looking for ways to improve myself as an artist and a human-being.

  • I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet those serious about the industry. This means, you can't just be looking for the million-dollar paycheck. 1) You have to LOVE making music. If you don't truly love making music, you likely aren't making good music. 2) You have to do your own homework. I know it's a bad word, but it WILL save your butt in this industry. With the Internet, the music industry is changing too rapidly. YOU HAVE GOT TO KNOW THE SCORE -or- you're out of the game. 3) I want to meet people who can not only take genuine encouragement, but who can give it just as easily. Any worthwhile relationship involves GIVE & TAKE.

    Music:

Must I... ok ALMOST anything as long as it is not nasty or too street. Also, I can't really say that I'm a fan of punk or New Age.BUT I DO LIKE: Gospel, R&B, Pop, some Rap/Hip-Hop, Country, Classical, Reggae, some international, and various other forms, styles and genres of music.AS AN ARTIST my personal focus is on Pop, Urban, Gospel, R&B.

    Movies:

Brown Sugar, Love & Basketball, Zoolander, You've Got Mail and too many to list.

    Television:

Suze Orman; any CSI; NCIS; some police detective (dramas); biographies of celebrities and other interesting characters; some history shows - BUT I try not to watch too much tv otherwise. It can easily be a time waster and keeps me from completing my dreams.

    Books:

MUSIC: The Future of Music, The Future of the Music Business, I Don't Need A Record Deal, All You Need To Know About the Music Business, and others. FINANCIAL: The Money Book for the Young Fabulous & Broke, Rich Dad Poor Dad series. RELIGIOUS: The Bible and The Purpose Driven Life

    Heroes:

Jesus Christ - first and foremost. My mom. Anyone who passes on good and useful knowledge through mentoring. Those who strive to be debt-free and then grow their assets.
