About Me

Music is the driving force in Trevor Anderies life. His father, a music educator and saxophonist opened up the world of jazz to Trevor at an early age. He first took on the saxophone, but by age fourteen, the drum set had seduced him. Now, age 23, he recently completed his Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies and drum set at the California Institute of the Arts. Trevor has had the opportunity to study and play jazz with greats such as Joe LaBarbera, Paul Romaine, Bennie Maupin, Darek Oles, Alfonso Johnson, and Vinny Golia and others. He has shared the stage with such great musicians as Herbie Hancock, Bob Mintzer, Ron Miles, Greg Gisbert, Eric Gunnison, Larry Coryell, Nestor Torres, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Orchestra and a wide array of other great musicians. Trevor also had the unique opportunity o study both Ewe music from Ghana with master drummer Alfred Ladzekpo and Nigerian talking drum with master drummer Francis Awe. In 2006 Trevor was selected to participate in the 17th annual IASJ conference in Siena, Italy where students and teachers from 26 countries performed original material. In 2007 played Ewe drums in Sandeep Bhagwatis’ interdisciplinary work Vineland Stelae, a performance that gathered together some of the greatest musicians from around the world. Most recently he has been on tour with the group Premasoul, a group dedicated to fusing the music’s of America and India and also his own collaborative group Slumgum.
