It just doesn't get better than an IRISH BOYBAND!

About Me

I work in the shoe department at JCPenney. I do well in my job and have even picked up the nifty party trick of accurately guessing shoe sizes, but it's not something I'd like to turn into a career.
My husband Ty and I are both aspiring writers. Besides our own personal projects, we're currently working together with my brother Matt to write a horror screenplay about zombies. We plan to sell it to the first interested person and then repeat the cycle of write/market/sell until we can all quit our customer service day jobs.
This year Ty and I have started saving money for a two-month UK/European adventure in 2009 (hopefully...if the saving goes as planned). We'd like to tour all of England, Scotland, and Ireland with smaller stops in Amsterdam, Prague, Rome, and Venice. So for all of you people that interact with me in "real life", if you see me buying stupid stuff feel free to remind me that the scope of my '09 Adventure hinges on whether or not I can be frugal for the next two years!
Now that Ty and I have been married for a few months it seems to be a widely held opinion that we should start having kids. This was, in fact, my reason for planning the '09 Adventure. Though we're taking every conceivable (no pun intended) precaution there's no solid guarantee for how long we can continue to dodge the baby bullet. It's my firm belief that there should be "Europe before babies" since if there are "babies before Europe" there will be no more Europe. (My friend Danielle assures me that even if we have babies before Europe it will still be there carrying on without us. I dispute this. I'm so serious about this trip that if babies before Europe occurred I'm pretty confident that Europe would simply cease to be. Don't ask me how...chalk it up to a weird Quantum Physics thing.)
I do realize that at this point my '09 Adventure is just a dream, but it's really the only thing that gets me through the monotony of the JCPenney Shoe Department. Well, that and my idea to make a mockumentary about Hutterites. Yeah, it's gonna be awesome...

You Belong in Dublin
Friendly and down to earth, you want to enjoy Europe without snobbery or pretensions.
You're the perfect person to go wild on a pub crawl... or enjoy a quiet bike ride through the old part of town. What European City Do You Belong In?

My Interests

Reading, writing, filmmaking, photography, politics, European travel, Arthurian legends, ancient Celtic culture (including druidism), parapsychology, vampire lore, and ghoulies, ghosties, long-legged beasties, and things that go bump in the night!

I'd like to meet:

God (but not yet, I'm not quite ready), Leonardo Da Vinci, Sir Isaac Newton, Mary Queen of Scots, Merlin, "King" Arthur (they're saying now that he might have been a real bloke after all), Sir Robin of Locksley (Robin Hood), and Jack the Ripper (not in a dark alley of course, but I'm just dying to know who he really was).

Is it weird that almost everyone I want to meet is dead?

"Jackass 2" Finale

This song reminds me of some of my best summer memories. Not only that, but "MMMBop" is now a decade old!

This is the video for the song "Go" from Hanson's new album "The Walk" which will be released on July 24th. (Note to all the Hanson haters: check out the evolution of their sound. They're awesome!)

Movies:

I love movies!! Someday I'd like to work in the film industry so I especially like movies where I can see the craftsmanship rather than just your typical Hollywood smörgåsbord of special effects (though I will admit to being occasionally sucked into those as well). Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:
"28 Days Later"
"Pan's Labyrinth" (This movie was awesome!)
"Igby Goes Down"
"Vanilla Sky"
"Ginger Snaps"
"The Butterfly Effect"
"The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy
"Finding Neverland"
"Moulin Rouge"
"The Libertine"
"Night Watch"
"The Eye" (this is Asian Horror at it's BEST!)
"Mean Creek"
"Dead and Breakfast"
"Idiocracy"
"Sublime"
"The Grindhouse"
"A Scanner Darkly"
I also love classic old movies and musicals. If it's got Audrey Hepburn, Carey Grant (see them together in "Charade", it's awesome!), or Gene Kelly I probably adore it!
"Gone With the Wind"
"It's a Wonderful Life"
"The Three Faces of Eve"
"Love Letters"
"The Odd Couple" (It makes me laugh every time!)
"Pillow Talk"
"Where the Boys Are"
"Singin' in the Rain"
"The Poseidon Adventure" (the 1972 version)

Television:

Alas, I have no cable! When I lived at home with my parents (and their awesome satellite subscription) some of the shows I watched were: "Law and Order: SVU", "CSI", "House", "Numbers", "Desparate Housewives", "The Apprentice" and "Carnivale". Some of my very favorite shows live on through my DVD boxed sets: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Nip/Tuck", and "Grey's Anatomy".

Books:

I've read so many good books that I can't name an absolute favorite. Here are some of the ones I've especially enjoyed:
The Ender's Game Series by Orson Scott Card
(and parallel Ender's Shadow series)
Cradle and All by James Patterson
The Hitchhiker's Series by Douglas Adams
The Once and Future King by T.H. White
The Girls He Adored by Jonathan Nasaw
The Everworld Series by K.A. Applegate
The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
Kissing in Manhattan by David Schickler
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Holes by Louis Sachar
Elizabeth and Mary: Cousins, Rivals, Queens by Jane Dunn
Leadership and Self-Deception: Getting Out of the Box by The Arbinger Institute
Seven Paths of the Anasazi Way: The Making of a Forward Walking by The Anasazi Foundation
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt
And those are just some of my favorites! I'll add more as I think of/ find them!

Heroes:

My sister Jayne has faced severe health problems her entire life and still remains one of the most positive people I have ever met. She's my sister, my friend, and my greatest inspiration.

..

John Edwards is running for president in 2008. He believes in America and I believe in him.

On March 28 I hosted a John Edwards for President house party. His campaign sent us a DVD showcasing his position on some of the issues and we were then able to participate in a live conference call with the senator. That was exciting, but for me the best thing about the house party was being able to introduce my friends to Senator Edwards as a serious candidate for the 2008 election.

Watch the video below. It's less than 4 minutes and I promise you won't be disappointed.
