Throughout history people have danced to music and kept in time with rhythmic beats. Today this is still the same, from the ancient African Rhythm to the last post industrial disco revolution.
Every night people head to musical meeting points such as disco’s, clubs, and street bars with the simple purpose of meeting each other while listening to good vibes.
This was until the figure of the vocalist came out.
It was probably born in the 70s in American disco clubs, and replaced sequencially in the late 90s in Europe.
The vocalist is not a singer… not even a mc who puts some rhymes over beats.
Some people remember the first time they heard this figure talking, who was probably a member of the crew that was using a microphone for technical communications.
From time to time some of these vocalists abused this position and started to say stupid or nonsense things over the sound system.
During the dj sets we often listen to the “vocalist†talking for hours, just saying nothing. His intent should be that of give power and feelings to dancers, increasing their sense of happiness and adding atmosphere.
THIS IS TOTALLY DUMB!!!!
Vocalists were never intended to prevail on the music; the best they should do is to speak or sing over empity parts of the songs, sometimes replacing some lyrics. The worst is when they shout crossing original vocals. This is just a big lack of culture and respect as regards to the disco divas and real singers!
What we would like to do is to try to get rid of this category, and bring music to the first level, as it has always been.. and basically let people dancing free to enjoy themselves as they intend to do, dancing, prancing, flirting….
So please unplug the vocalist!!!! Try to cut his mike lead or slide down the volume fader!!
Remember, make sure to shut up the vocalist, especially if you are a deejay.
BRING MUSIC BACK TO LIFE.
