About Me

Oh, hell. Not sure what to say here ...

Well, as you can see, my name is Desirée. I am one lucky gal - I'm blessed to be part of such a beautiful, gifted family whom I love immeasurably. I have THE most supportive, loving parents anybody could ask for. The "baby" of la familia, I have two older sisters, Yvonne and Bianca, and a brother, Brian. My two lovely nieces, Brittany and Sésha, are extremely bright individuals, and they're just plain special - I'm so proud to be their Aunt! Although I turned 21 in June, people tend to say I look older - I agree. Or, at least, I feel older. Hah! Anyway, music is a big part of my life. I like getting away. I like changes of scenery. I'm very mercurial - a real Gemini. I really enjoy cooking, dancing, shopping, and barhopping, occasionally. I like spending time alone. I have old-fashioned values. I'm a sentimental schmuck who just HATES "goodbyes." I'm a bit of a perfectionist by nature. I think I'm a friendly person. To be honest, though, I can be terribly shy when I meet somebody the first couple of times - I know, I annoy the hell out of myself being that way! All in all, guess you can say I'm just a regular old small-town girl with big dreams!

You Are Corona
You don't drink for the love of beer. You drink to get drunk.
You prefer a very light, very smooth beer. A beer that's hardly a beer at all.
And while you may not like the taste of beer, you like the feeling of being drunk.
You drink early and often. Sometimes with friends. Sometimes alone. All the party needs is you! What's Your Beer Personality?

My Interests

Spending time with my family, spending time in the kitchen. I love cooking. To me, it's meditative. My mom's my guinea pig and my biggest fan... Cowboys, rainy nights, Texas, live music, traveling, getting lost, high heels, shopping from home, architecture, Boggle and Scrabble, greenhouses, gift wrapping, new experiences, learning new words and concepts. Hell, learning something new, period.

Stuff for your blog!

Music:

I'm a HUGE fan of music, any genre. Lately, I've been listening to mostly Tejano...getting closer to my roots I suppose! I'm heavy, heavy into Los Lonely Boys, Shawn Sahm & The Tex Mex Experience, Flaco Jimenez (by way of TME), and Jewel. Others on my very varied favorites list include: Vallejo, Ozomatli, Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley, Rufus Wainwright, Fiona Apple, Paul Simon, Intocable, Bobby Pulido, Dwight Yoakam, The Deftones, Phaser, Sister Hazel, The Texas Tornados, Incubus, Michael Salgado, David Gray, Los Tigres Del Norte, Grupo Solido, Elvis Presley, Teitur, Ella Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, Esthero, Brooks and Dunn, Björk, Mindy Smith, Maroon 5, Juanes, John Mayer, Joss Stone, John Lennon, The Beatles, Jamie Cullum, Calle 13, Bebe, and many, many more...

Movies:

My all time favorite films have just got to be The Departed (only the best movie EVER), Good Will Hunting, Life as a House, Inventing the Abbots, The Village, Signs, Chocolat, William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet, That Thing You Do, Titanic, Sleepy Hollow, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, American History X, Hope Floats, Constantine, Rat Race, Now & Forever, Excess Baggage, Desperado, Ever After, Detroit Rock City, While You Were Sleeping, Garden State, My Best Friend's Wedding, Stealing Beauty, All the Real Girls, Judgment Night, Shopgirl, Edward Scissorhands, and many more....

Television:

Actually, I've been pretty turned off by television these days. However, I make it a point everyday to drop whatever I'm doing at 3:30 to switch between reruns of The Golden Girls, Charmed, and Everyday Italian during commercial breaks. Well, okay, Prison Break, The People's Court with Judge Milian, Roseanne (the beginnings), and What Not to Wear also catch my attention.

Books:

A Night Without Armor and Chasing Down the Dawn both by Jewel Kilcher, The Celestine Prophecy, The Tenth Insight: Holding the Vision, and The Celestine Vision: Living the New Spiritual Awareness all by James Redfield... Looking forward to getting my hands on a copy of The Active Side of Infinity and The Art of Dreaming both by Carlos Castaneda... I also really enjoy flipping through cook books, gardening books, and architecture/design books...
